Edify is where I see myself. I am one of several mentors for our youth and I am really
comfortable getting down on their level. I am one of the “old people” who acts like a kid among
the rest of them but it has built their trust in me as someone they can communicate with. They
will text me with questions or call me with issues because they know I will always answer their
call because I have made it known to each and everyone of them that they are important to me,
that they mater. Our youth holds several conferences/camps every year and two of our biggest
ones are Converge and Disciple Now. Converge is where we have 4-5 area church youth groups
come to our church for 5 days. They are broken up and adopted into families. They sleep at the
church and they eat there. During the day, the have lesson after breakfast and spend a good bit
of the day doing community work and they absolutely love it. They have lesson at night and
then we break off into groups for a question and answer session. This is always my favorite part
because it tends to get real, really quick. For our youth who have been a child of God for a
while, they find themselves asking questions or having feelings that kind of come out of
nowhere and for the ones who are new in their faith, they have tons of questions. It truly is an
amazing thing to experience with them at such a raw time in their lives. Disciple Now is just as
fun but in just a shorter amount of time. I am blessed to be able to be a part of these kid lives
and their walk. They are inspirational to me in more ways than I could ever explain.
