Sermon 1: The Wonder of God's Sovereignty
Target Audience: The following sermons were prepared with a target audience of a Wednesday
Night Student gathering. Our Wednesday night gatherings average around 30 students and range
from 6th to 12th grade. I believe in challenging our students and hope each of the sermons do
just that. I have expanded my normal sermon notes into a full manuscript to fit the context of this
assignment.
Introduction:
Good evening and welcome to mid week. Tonight we will start a two week mini series on
God and who he is. In a world filled with uncertainty, where questions often outweigh answers,
we gather tonight not with a goal to seek knowledge, but longing for a deeper understanding of
the One who holds all things together, God. As young believers navigating the complexities of
life, it is natural for each of you to question God's plan amidst the chaos. Yet, in the midst of our
doubts and fears, there exists a profound truth that transcends our understanding – the wonder of
God's sovereignty.
Scripture reveals to us the majestic nature of God's sovereignty. In Isaiah 46:9-10, the
prophet declares, "Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am
God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times
things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’"
Let's dive deeper into this truth and allow it to transform our hearts and minds tonight. If you
have a question at any point please raise your hand and wait for myself or a small group leader to
reach out to you.
