Adoptionism - Jesus was a man and then was adopted as Son of God.
Arianism: “There was a time when the Son was not.” (Jesus was created, not co-eternal).
Docetism: Jesus’ body was an allusion (denial of two natures).
Monophysitism: At the incarnation, Jesus’ two natures were made one either divine
overriding the human or a fusion of the two.
Monothelitism: Jesus had two natures, but only one will (not two natures with two
wills).
Nestorianism: Jesus existed as two separate but connected persons (not two natures in
one person).

The titles ascribed to Jesus provide windows into His complex identity.

Christus Victor: Jesus’ death and resurrection defeated sin and death.
Satisfaction/Penal: Christ’s death satisfied the punishment due to
humanity. Substitution: Christ’s death happened in the place of humans.
