God inspired the Holy Bible; He worked through men in order for the Bible to be written.
There are many reasons why people believe God inspired the Holy Bible. For example, there are
Scripture references that claim the Bible to be inspired by God. 2 Timothy 2:16 states, “All
Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness”.1 This verse describes that the Bible is indeed the true Word of God because it is
God-breathed or inspired by God. Another verse that describes God’s inspiration upon the Bible
is 2 Peter 1:20-21, “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by
the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will,
but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit”.2
This verse specifically says that the men who wrote the Bible did not write out of their own flesh
but were inspired through the Holy Spirit. There are many other verses throughout the Old and
New Testament that also attest to God’s divine inspiration in the Bible. Another reason the Bible
is believed to be God inspired is because the bible is comprised of 66 books, written by 40
different authors, over a period of 1,500 years, in 3 different languages, on 3 different continents.
In addition, these collections of books share a common storyline, theme, and message.3 There is
no other book in the world that compares to a book such as the Bible. It is so unique and specific
that it can only be due to God-breathed divine inspiration. Another reason the Bible is inspired
by God is because there are no historical errors or contradictions. Dr. Ed Hindson states that one
can read the bible and believe for example, miracles, were a radical miracle or never happened.
But there were multiple eyewitnesses throughout the Bible; with no contradictions to say the

miracles never happened.4 Like stated above there are 66 different books in the Bible with over
40 different authors, with no historical errors or contradictions. These are just a few reasons that
show how God inspired the Bible.
Though there are many reasons to support the Bible being inspired by God, there are
people in the world who still object to this idea and believe that humans solely wrote it. One
reason people may deny the Bible from being God-breathed is because there is cruelty and
harming of innocent people, which exists in the Bible.5 For example, when God wiped out the
earth due to the flood. However, the Scriptures include suffering because God has allowed all
people to have free will. Although we have free will, that does not excuse people from the
consequences of their actions. There is sin in the world, and nowhere does the Bible claim there
will be no cruelty or suffering. Another reason people may deny the Bible from being inspired
by God is because the Bible and the laws of science and nature do not match up.6 For example,
when water was turned into wine or when there was a talking snake. People who think the Bible
is not scientifically correct, claim that humans who wrote the Bible made all of the miracles up.
However, there are multiple authors who accounted for the many miracles in the Bible and from
a Christian perspective, all of the miracles are just another reason for God-breathed divine
inspiration.
