Individuals will talk about this in society
It’s a false dichotomy
The argument goes that there are certain things that
are sacred, and others that are secular, and that there
is a divide betweeen these two.
We see this thinking in such things as vocation
Some people believe that a calling to be a pastor or a
missionary is a sacred calling, and that a calling to
be a lawyer or a doctor is secular.
And that there is a divide
This is a false dichotomy
Because we know that God created all things, and we see
God’s revelation thtough his world and His word.
As christians, we need to bring our thinking together.
Values/Facts Divide
It’s like looking at a A two story house. The top floor
is the personal life, the bottom floor is the public
life.
Top floor Sacred
a.Subjective
b.Based more on Values
c.Experience
d.Religion
Bottom floor Secular
a.Objective
b.Based more on Facts
c.Values-free
d.Scientific
This becomes a problem as we try to witness to others
or implement or Biblical worldview or our
understanding, we get pushed back as Christians because
they say that it’s something that it affects us at a
personal level, don’t bring that into your public life
It’s an issue, especially when it comes to leaders in
our society
Once private and personal life affects public life as
well.
When have I thought that there is a divide between
those two?
How can I bring those two together?
All of scripture’s pointing to the fact that everything
that we do should be done for God’s glory
Everything that exists should be existing for God’s
glory
All that we do is under God’s sovereign row and under
God’s eye
The significance of God’s revelation to us through His
creation and His word, be thinking of ways of how we
can bring that divide together in our minds.
