Teaching being my chosen vocation allows me to have contact with gods creations
sharing knowledge and truths that would otherwise be be unknown to them or even learned
incorrectly. My vocation allows me to help guide innocent minds into the right direction so that
they may carry out their lives in a manner God intended. Foundational to the Christian faith is
the belief that mankind is created in the image of God with this understanding the way I carry out
my duties in the school environment will be effected heavily, from what I teach, to how I teach
and more importantly how I counter all individuals involved in my vocational journey.
With the theological understanding that mankind is created in the image of God I as a
teacher should not focus heavily on topics that are not of God but instead focus on the aspects of
topics that coincide with the teachings of the bible or on how negatively these events impacted
Gods creations because of their ungodly foundation. For example when focusing on History
topics in a classroom full of 3rd and 4th graders I should not glamourize sadistic events in history
such as the Salem Witch Trials but instead I should condemn the deaths that it caused. In the
bible the consequence for practicing witchcraft was death (Leviticus 20:27) because I am created
in the image of God I should not portray myself as one who finds pleasure in events in history
such as this, and I should present events such as this to my students in a manner that I would
present them to God. What I teach and how I teach will be directly effected by my worldview
which is shaped around Christianity. The things I teach will not only reflect on me but will have
a lasting impact on my students, which is why although the curriculum may not be under my
control how I present the information surrounding the set curriculum will be dictated by my
worldview. The theological understanding that God exposes his creations to truth through his
words which are recorded in the bible, impacts my worldview in a way that will only allow me to

teach things that I know to be true via the teachings of the bible. When teaching scientific
theories, methods, and findings I must not give credit to man alone but I must present all theories
methods and findings in a truthful manner. For example leaving out any references to man’s
OPINIONS on how the world was created and promoting all scientific findings that coincide
with the original truth known by me from the first chapter of the bible (Genesis 1:1-31), will
ensure that I am being precise in not only teaching truthful matters but that I am helping to form
lasting intellectual anchors that will later act as the foundation for shaping the worldviews of my
students.
In addition to materials I will have to teach I will also come into contact with an array of
people from the students in and out of my classroom to the parents of the students as well as
other school faculty some holding the same title as myself. Due to the frequent interaction with
others, I will find myself in different situations all warranting me to act in a manner that
embodies the influence that God has on my life. With the theological understanding that mankind
is created in the image of God I must shape all of my reactions around a worldview that the
person in which whom I am interacting is of God, as I am of God and should be treated in a
manner that I would treat God’s things no matter the circumstances. For example I should react
to different elements of behaviorism presented in my classroom as God reacts to my conduct. As
a teacher I should not react to student misbehaviors in a manner that breeds anger, jealousy,
selfishness, hate or evil. With the theological understanding of sin and that all of mankind has a
stained sinful heart, that god has allowed us to have removed through the gospel I understand
that not only will people do things that they are not supposed to do but that God is a forgiving
god and wants only for us to live in the image that he created us to be. Therefore I must not
condemn my students for misbehaviors or falling short when it comes to completing assignments

instead I will need to show them their errors, and how they can redeem themselves so that they
may succeed in my classroom, just as god shows me my errors and how to redeem myself so that
I may live for him.
Foundational to the Christian faith is the belief that mankind is created in the image of
God. With Teaching being my chosen vocation I will have many opportunities to present myself
as God’s creation, through what and how I teach and the interactions with the individuals in my
work environment. The effects of this belief promote the same overall view which is “treat
people the way you want to be treated” or in biblical terms “Therefore all things whatsoever ye
would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”
(matthew 7:12) because being made in the image of God puts a standard on your life, we must
act amongst each other as God has intended, and called upon us through the life he has given us.
