A significant problem, community violence in amateur sports necessitates comprehensive
prevention and management policies. Sports, despite their potential to foster personal growth and
community involvement, can also serve as a medium for acts of aggression and violence.
Additionally, participants and spectators who exhibit excessive aggression and violence are often
the subject of media coverage (Hums & MacLean, 2018). Sport violence is any harmful act that
takes place in violation of the regulations of the sport and is not conducive to its competitive
objectives. A substantial body of evidence supports the notion that both the frequency and
severity of sport violence incidents have increased.
In recent years, team contact sports such as American football, rugby, and ice hockey
have been the scene of aggression and violence. Attitudinal and spectator animosity must be
mitigated so that sports violence can be reduced. Policies targeting the mitigation and resolution
of athlete violence encompass various strategies. These include furnishing amateur athletes with
suitable, non-aggressive role models, formulating regulations that establish a strict prohibition on
violent behaviors, and ensuring sufficient reinforcement is provided for proper sports conduct
(Hums & MacLean, 2018). In contrast to endorsing peace, the Bible strictly prohibits acts of
violence, insults, and even hostility. As an illustration, 1 Peter 3:9 counsels against "repaying evil
with evil." It is inappropriate to respond to insults with further insults. Instead, bestow a favor in
return. "For this reason, you have been called by God to do that, and he will reward you" (New
Living Translation). Athletes, instructors, parents, and spectators are cautioned by this verse
against retaliating with physical harm. The purpose of utilizing sports to promote awareness is to
foster values such as respect, tolerance, teamwork, and harmony. Aggression should be avoided
because it can lead to violence and foster negative emotions that impede human progress.

The impact of these programs on crime-related outcomes, including aggressiveness and
antisocial behavior, has been found to be moderate. The individuals who participated in these
programs experienced a notable reduction in the aforementioned outcomes, while their
psychological well-being and self-esteem improved. Nevertheless, the efficacy of these
initiatives differs, and further robust evaluation designs and moderator analyses are required to
enhance our comprehension of their operation and refine their execution. Moreover, the
implementation of these programs may not be uniform across all communities, and their efficacy
could potentially be impacted by local constituents.
Notwithstanding the prospective advantages that sports programs may offer, their
effective implementation presents a number of obstacles. A potential obstacle is the possibility
that the sports platform could be exploited to impose personal views on all of humanity. Such
circumstances may result in athletes tainting societal norms and standards with their conviction
that American spectator sport serves as a medium through which individuals can manifest their
personal values onto the larger community. An additional difficulty is that sports have the
capacity to worsen preexisting social disparities. By means of the realm of athletics, we are able
to acquire crucial understanding regarding the delicate matters of racism, sexism, and classism.
To guarantee that sports make a positive contribution to community development, policies must
therefore address these concerns.
Sport should be primarily driven by individual skill development, enjoyment, and
physical activity. Consequently, prioritizing player development over absolute victory should be
the guiding principle (Young, 2019). The second element is to furnish athletes and spectators
with positive role models. PE instructors and coaches ought to actively pursue mentors who are
fervent about their respective sports and anxious to serve as exemplars. By exemplifying the

virtues of sportsmanship, integrity, and humility, role models have the ability to inspire both
athletes and spectators to excel both academically and personally. Parental participation in
athletics constitutes the third element. The attitudes and perceptions of their offspring regarding
sports are positively impacted by their parents (Spaaij & Schaillée, 2019). Coaches and educators
have the ability to engage parents by evaluating their children's athletic participation and keeping
an eye out for any signs of aggression or anxiety. In summary, the implementation of sport
violence policy serves to proscribe individuals who partake in detrimental and belligerent actions
from attending or observing a sporting event at a four-sporting facility for a specified duration.
Although imposing stringent regulations and laws is beneficial, it merely offers reactive solutions
to the issue of sports violence. Implementing a school or community-based policy that educates
spectators, parents, and athletes about violence, its long-term negative effects, and the critical
nature of its cessation is the most effective approach to violence prevention.
