Think about an experience you had where you felt extremely motivated. In a 3- to 4-
page paper, analyze this experience according to the experiential format below. Each
subtitle represents a different section of the paper. You can use the subtitles as
headings.
Introduction: Discuss the topic of the paper and how you will approach it. It is best to write
this section after you have written the rest of the paper.
The Experience: Begin with a specific situation/event. Describe the experience where you
felt extremely motivated. Be objective and focus on just the facts: who, what, where, when,
and how.
Reflection: Reflect upon that experience from the multiple perspectives of other people
involved or affected in the experience. Step back from the situation, look at the experience
from your own viewpoint, and the viewpoints of other parties involved or affected. Look at the
circumstances surrounding the experience from every relevant perspective. Why was the
experience motivating to you? What did others do that increased your motivation? Was the
situation (or would the situation) also be motivating to others? (Note: Your discussion of
theories and models from your module materials belongs in the following section.)
Abstract Conceptualization: [Important: This Abstract Conceptualization section is the
“heart” of your paper. Use critical thinking skills to understand and interpret the experience at
a deeper, more generalizable level. Interpret and understand the events you have described
by drawing on the concepts, theories, and models in the background material from this
module. What behavior patterns can you identify in yourself and others that are similar to the
ones described in the material on motivation, values, and/or goals? How do these concepts
and principles explain why you were motivated? What general principles of motivation can
you derive from this analysis? Apply at least three concepts, theories, and/or models and
cite all references to concepts and ideas that you use from sources. Be sure to cite all
references to concepts, ideas, and quotes you use that come from any outside source.
Experimentation: Identify ways to respond to the next occurrence of a similar experience.
How are you going to put what you have learned to use? How will you use this knowledge to
motivate yourself and others? What actions will you take to create a work environment that is
motivating?
Conclusion: Sum up the main points of your analysis and the key learnings you are taking
from it.
Reference List: List all references that you have cited in the paper using APA formatting.
References include materials from the required background readings as well as any outside
Internet or library sources you used in researching and writing your paper. If you have APA
questions, refer to the optional listings on the Background page.

An Experience that Motivated Me
Introduction
Attending a concert that I had in mind for years was like a dream come true for me. This
was a motivation that anything can happen, only if you are patient to wait long enough. The
experience was a concert that was attended by my music heroes and icons. They were to perform
live, and this felt like a riddle or a puzzle that had just been solved. Sometimes learning takes
more than you can imagine, always listen and try to find out before criticizing (Perrell, Erdie, &
Kasay, 2017). The paper shows a reflection of the concert and discusses various principles of
motivation and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. Motivation is a universal need that makes
the world keep growing and developing.
The Experience
What motivated me the most is the way the performers related their narratives to the top.
From writing music in a garage to producing high-quality full-sized lyrics that move the world
takes mastery, patience, and time. Only a few people will understand what it takes to become the
best. The anecdotes we leave behind counts in the end and not the amount of money or our
lifestyles instead. It is a pity to judge others without finding out their true identity. Fame conceals
a lot if only you take the time to try and find out. Everyone has their stories and watching my
heroes perform compare to a creation out of the blues.
Reflection
Writing music that resonates in the hearts of its listeners is not everyone’s sport. Various
things moved those that attended the concert. For instance, there was this particular group that
was arguing who the best artiste was, and I kept wondering why they compared artistes who
MOTIVATION 3
were involved with different genres. In my capacity, I understand the concept of picking your
match in a battle lest your neck gets broken. A second encounter I had was pretty incredible. A
young lady barely my age came and gave me a tap. Before I knew it, we were in a deep
conversation on the achievements that Jessup had realized over his short career. The artist of the
hour was Jessup, the way he orchestrated the melodies one could think that the duo was in
communication. This concert was a motivation to not only me but the entire crowd. When the
artists performed, the whole crowd sang along, making incredible harmonies. The masses must
have elevated the feeling and motivation more than I expected.
Abstract Conceptualization
Perrell, Erdie, & Kasay (2017) imply that motivation is a concept that comes from
anything, especially the things we desire and adore. Before attending the concert, I had a burning
sensation for music but never dreamed of becoming a musician. Temporarily, the concert carried
me to a world that I have never tread. The people that attended the show made everything look
serene and beautiful. From the day the concert commenced till its last, I believed in the
attribution of that the best things in life happen to us when we least expect them to. The artists
played their instruments skillfully that you could imagine this was the first thing placed in their
hands when they dropped into this world. Every beat and melody was well organized and played
to the tune of the music. The crowd danced to the hits like they had been practicing for eternity.
Everybody spoke of the beauty of the concert. When the artiste told of their stories to fame,
everybody listened, and from the look of their faces, you could tell they were deeply touched
(Brunstein, & Heckhausen, 2018).
There are distinct motivational principles that I learned from this electrifying show.
Firstly, the best way to get people to listen to you is to pay attention to others. Jessup told of a
MOTIVATION 4
narrative when they were green in the music industry and had to learn from their superior
(Legault, 2016). I believe this is what made them command such large crowds and following in
various social media platforms. Secondly, our pain can change us, form the experience of losing
both parents, and having no one to take care of him, Jessup resorted to what he believed could
help wipe away his tears. Music is his new haven as he puts it in one of his lyrics. Thirdly,
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory shows the psychology of being motivated to get what is
essential to us the most as the artist believed in their music before anything else (Gawel, 1996).
Lastly, communicating is the key to identifying oneself. This concept has been of critical
significance to various artists who mounted the stage as it helped them connect and have the
world respond to them. The concert created a warm environment that motivated everyone that
their identities do not define who they are.
Experimentation
The next time something of this sort takes place, it is my place to look on the positive
side of it. Every encounter is deemed to be an experience that we must learn from. Listening to
people is a venture that I have learned and practice to ensure that I get the best out of people.
Every person has a story that you can learn from and motivate you to make the right choices.
Interaction is my prioritization at all times, and it feels great to learn new things and to impart
experiences in others as well. According to Benabou & Tirole (2003), you can never tell how
much benefits you might contribute to someone else’s life. Being open and attentive to others is
a venture that I intend to use in my work environment to motivate the rest. This way, I will
attract more positivity, which in itself is a motivation.
MOTIVATION 5
Conclusion
Motivation exists to make us desire or want something while believing that if we worked
hard and smart enough, it must eventually belong to us. Motivation imparts in us the objectivity
of realizing our goals. Technically, our behavior and patterns get affected when we feel
motivated. Through theories such as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, we recognize what we
deem significant and work towards achieving it. The type of motivation addressed in this paper is
extrinsic motivation, as it comes from the outside environment to trigger the inside. Generally,
we must not look down upon others when they stand in a better position before comprehending
what they have gone through. The tallest building in the world was once just a small plan on
paper; that is my motivation to greatness.

Firstly,
the

I
believe
this
is
what
made
them
command
such
large
crowds

various

Secondly,
our

Music

Thirdly,

Lastly,
communicating
1s
the
key
to

oneself.
This
concept
has

of
critical
significance
to
various
artists
who
mounted
the

as
it
helped
them

have

The

created
a

everyone
that
their

Experimentation
The
next

something
of
this
sort
takes
place,
it
is
my

to
look
on
the

Every
encounter
is
deemed
to

Listening
to
people
is
a
venture
that
I
have
learned
and
practice
to
ensure
that
I
get
the
best
out
of
people.
Every
person has
a
story
that
you

Interaction
