The authors laid out the biblical framework for understanding spiritual formation by showing how
everything is connected they gave us an example that Paul used when he was talking to the Corinthians.1
Paul used the terms and processes that are associated with agriculture. The authors point out how Jesus
uses the natural world to illustrate the principles operating in the kingdom and His relationships.2 This
shows how ecosystems can show us how things are connected throughout the Bible and in the spiritual
world. My aha moment comes in what I did not know about a word and the word is the motif. I have
never heard of that word much less know what it means but in reading chapter two one paragraph gives
us an example of biblical motifs I did not realize these verses and stories were any motifs, but it does
make me want to learn where there are more of the motifs and what the meanings are. My question
would be is there more examples of motifs in the Bible and if so, then how would they apply to the
ecosystem talked about in the textbook?
