What is worldview?
Worldview is defined by The American Scientific Affiliation as the following: “a
worldview is a view of the world, used for living in the world” (Rusbult, n.d.). The worldview
that a human takes, will determine everything in their lives. I take a Christian worldview on
everything in life, while somebody else may take a non-religious worldview on things. We both
take different worldviews so we will not live our life for the same reasons. Whatever worldview
you take on anything will affect how and what you live your life for.
Answering worldview questions for a biblical worldview.
First, lets start off by answering what is the origin of the universe and how humanity
came into existence. That is a real easy question to answer. The first sentence in the bible states
that God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1). God has created everything you see and
hear about in the world. Humanity also came from God. In Genesis 2:7, God created man from
dust of the earth and breathed life into him. God is the reason everything and everyone is here,
He has created all things.
Next, let us answer the questions of what it means to be human and are humans more
important than other living things. Humans were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). To
be human means to live and serve the God that created you in his image. In my opinion, humans
are more important than other living things. In Psalm 8:4-8, the author talks about God making
humans a step below angels and that everything else is under humans’ feet. It also states in
Genesis 26-28 that humans have dominion over other living creatures.
What is the purpose of humanity? The short and simple answer to this question is to
glorify and live through God. Isaiah 43:7 states the ultimate purpose of man is to glorify God by

knowing him and spreading His word. This is the main purpose in my opinion. Another purpose
of humanity is to watch over the world that God has created. God created Adam and Eve to
watch over the Garden of Eden, so that tells me that we as humans are watching over his creation
for him.
How is morality determined and what is meant by right and wrong? When it comes to
morality and right and wrong, God decides what is right and wrong. “God approves of right
actions because they are right and disapproves of wrong actions because they are wrong” (God,
Religion and Morality, n.d.). When it comes to being morally right, God says in Peter 1:16 “you
shall be holy, for I am holy.” In Gods eyes, you should be morally right to be a true reflection of
his image. Look at 2nd Corinthians 6:17, to sum it up, come clean and God will welcome you
with open arms.
This final question is a big one that people still argue about today. What happens when a
person dies? I believe what the bible tells me happens after death. The bible tells us in
Ecclesiastes 12:7 what happens to a person once they have passed away. A person’s physical
body will return to dust and their spirit will return to God in heaven. The soul of a person will no
longer exist. Once you die, you immediately enter God’s presence if you belong to Christ.
How might/should a biblical worldview influence the way you….
How should my biblical worldview influence the way I think about and treat a person
who doesn’t hold the same beliefs as me? No matter what a person believes in, they are still a
child of God in the eyes of a Christian human. Even if they do not believe in God, you should not
just treat them any differently than you would a Christian. For reference, look at the 2nd

commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” It does not say only love people who
have the same beliefs as you, it says to love your neighbor (which refers to everyone).
How might my biblical worldview influence the way I decide what to do when asked to
do something unethical at work? I should stand strong in my faith and let my superior know that
whatever it is they want me to do, is not what I believe in, and they should respect my religious
standpoint on the topic. Look at Philippians 4:1, which states to stand firm in the Lord and in
faith.
