Part I
Worldview can be defined as how we look and react to the world around us.
Weider and Gutierrez stated that, “A worldview can also be described as a filter or lens from
which one sees and interprets the world and all that it represents” (Weider & Gutierrez, 2014,
pg.59). A person’s worldview can change as they experience life, religion, and family which is
the basis for how we obtain our worldview.

Part II
The Question of Origin
Looking through the lens of a biblical worldview, one must be able to
comprehend what it means to have a biblical worldview. According to our textbook, “The
biblical/Christian worldview begins with God who can be known through His creation of and
revelation to humankind” (Weider & Gutierrez, 2014, pg.79). Having a biblical worldview
means you believe that God is the creator of everything, God created man and the earth. The
bible states that, “You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and
all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to
everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you” (Nehemiah 9:6 NIV).
The Question of Identity
God created man in His own image to live our lives through Him. “So God
created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he
created them” (Genesis 1:27 NIV). As creations of God, we are not above other human beings,
but He did say in the Bible to “reign” over other creatures of the earth. “Let us make mankind in
our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,

over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the
ground” (Genesis 1:26 NIV).
The Question of Meaning/Purpose
As human beings many of us struggle with the answer to the question of our
purpose in live. Looking through the lens of a person when a biblical worldview, their life is
lived through God. “But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart
through all generations” (Psalms 33:11 NIV). When we were created by God, he already had our
paths paved for us. Our job as his creations is to live our life through Him and His will if we
want to be welcomed into heaven with Him. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ
Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10 NIV).
The Question of Morality
The Bible is a great reference to determine whether what someone is doing is
right or wrong. God put many examples and laws into the Bible to help guide us through life
knowing what is moral and what is a sin. “The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths
straight, but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness” (Proverbs 11:5 NIV)
Staying on the path of righteousness is the only way to determine that your decisions in life are
of moral value. Hindson stated that, “As we grow in Christ, we improve both in our knowledge
of God’s truth and in our love for others” (Hindson, 2017, pg.179).
The Question of Destiny
Those who have a biblical worldview know that after we die, if we have accepted
Christ as our savior and admit to our sins, that we are accepted into an eternal life and love in
heaven with Him. “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even
though they die” (John 11:25 NIV). Though this may be true for those who are believers, those

who do not accept Christ as their savior will ultimately spend the rest of eternity in hell. “Then
they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life” (Matthew 25:46 NIV).

Part III
Having a biblical worldview means you treat and speak to others with grace and
humility. A saying I used to hear a lot growing up that has helped to shape my own personal
biblical worldview is to treat others they way you want to be treated. The same goes for how you
treat the environment and non-human creations. God gave us all these creations and we should
respect and cherish everything He has given us. “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain
conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves” (Philippians 2:3 NIV). Those who
have a biblical worldview follow live their lives righteously through God and treat all of God’s
creations with grace.
