Introduction
This assignment will explain the contextual summary of chapter one chapter two in terms
of what is social psychology. There will be explanations and empirical evidence that will be
provided through the chapter summary in terms of defining what is social psychology, and also
providing examples of what is social psychology. Additionally, there will be a discussion of a
brief history of what is social psychology on how it began in all the errors that it has went
through along to the current concept of what is social psychology today as displaying through the
authors. Furthermore, it will also include an integral part of theories along, as reference to
explain what is social psychology currently, and all of its integration of emotions, perspectives,
along with genetic perspective, cultural perspectives and behavioral economics, along with more
issues with exclamations of other interdisciplinary approaches.*
In chapter 2, it will emphasize sociology in terms of his research methods. Also, chapter
to highlight the developing ideas of the research process along with his basic applied research
methods. There will also be a discussion on the sociological concepts of refining ideas through
the textbook. Additionally, there will be a discussion of the research design such as the
experiments and research such as meta-analysis, along with is new research of standard practices
and standards, along with ethical reviews.
Overview of Social Psychology?
In Chapter one, it provides an overview of the importance of social psychology. It begins
by explaining how social psychology is influenced by the context of other people behaviors.
Kassin explain how human are social being and led by social interaction (Kassin et.al 202). It

network has led to how we fuel social movements (2021). The authors explain how social media
has led to powerful movement such as the #Metoo movement but can also influence our
behaviors in negative ways such as the “Tide Pod Challenge” which led to people endangering
their health. Kassin also explains how our social relationships raise a very large part of our lives

are largely consumed from human interactions (Chadee, 2022). Social Psychology has also been
scribed by being the scientific study of how people behave and interact with other people. It
provides a description of how learning about other people through movies, novels and history are
useful examples. Chadee also adds how our interdependence is at the center or heart of most of
our human interactions (2022). Chapter one also provides more questions on the matter on things
that influence us and what concerns us as people. Additionally, he described how the
interdependence theory models our everyday interactions as a way to understand the choices that
individual makes on social and personal factors (2022).
History of Social Psychology & Social Psychology Today
The history of the era of social psychology can be traced back from the 1880s-1920’s.
The book described a variety of founders such as Norman Triplett who published the first
research article along with Max Ringleman who also conducted in research on a contrast subject,
but later published his article in 1913. However, the credit has been given to the three-
psychologist named William McDougail, Edward Ross, and Floyd Allport who wrote a book on
the social interaction while using the scientific method for experimental research. Their book set
the foundation on which sociology was born. Later, Social psychology was put to the test by

helping I times of crisis such as in WW II when it was used to help in the government. For
example, Kurt Lewin fled the Nazi regime and used his skill to help with the government. He
contributed many things such as establishing the behavior that was functioned between the
person and the environment. One expert also informs how the field of social dilemmas try to
discover the choice behavior of interdependent situations (Chadee, 2022). This led to other
people coming to Lewin aid and they chose to work with the government to investigate how to
protect the solders from the enemy and also help persuade the citizens to support the war.
Furthermore, like the interdependence theory, it also wanted to understand why people make
cooperative and noncooperative decisions when own self-interest maty pose a threat (Chadee,
2022). Next there was the confidence and crisis era which targets the post WW II era by
discussing Stanley Milgram’s research. His research is inspired by the harsh obedience that eh
Nazis demonstrated and how it had it affects on the other parts of the world. This led to many
ideas and debated which led to many lab experiments and procedures that cause critical views
that were deemed unethical. Later, the Era of Pluralism was developed which set the pace for
ethical standards to tale place on forms of practices. Also, more views were opened up for
discussion internationally and multi-culturally. Currently, social psychology has grown with
more research process for the study on human emotions. Researchers are looking at his
genetically, environmentally, and culturally.
Social Research Methods, Process, and Standard Practices
Chapter two discuss the research methods. Since social psychology based on research,
this chapter describes the research process and how the testing is completed. Also, it unveils how
the ethical values and new research methods have been taken place. The chapter explains how
the foal is basic research is to gain an overall understanding of how human behave (Kassin,

2021). It also gives a understanding of how researchers have to be able to use observation as a
way to testing their variables. It adds how they must place certain variables and manipulate them
in order to have certain measurement to construct their study. The book also explains internal
validity and how changes can occur towards the variables. Also, the authors also inform how the
researcher must conduct their report with complete honesty (2021). It adds how the social
community of researchers work hard on their research and cares about the integrity in their field.
Conclusion
To conclude, the field of social psychology has contributed much to society. It has proven
how it is a science through their use of experimentation and their reports of solid cases. Through
controversial studies, it has also shown it affects of how people can be negative influences.
However, social psychology has shown a positive impact in how people behave in wars, social
media influences, school settings, and other environments. Sociologist have also played a part of
helping the governments and foundations have been formed in helping the world. Chadee also
explains how our independence plays an affect on how we interact with others and how they can
affect us in different situations or conflicts. Overall, these chapters have explains how social
psychology plays an integral part of our lives and also how it is applied in research studies.
