Control (Module 6)
Introduction
Two exciting elements of control and behavior are training a new puppy and overcoming
fear. This essay explores the concepts of punishment as a training method for a new puppy and
the process of overcoming fear from a Biblical perspective. In the first section, I will discuss
three crucial factors a person must consider while using punishment to alter a puppy's behavior.
Then, I will explore the idea of overcoming fear based on spiritual teachings and personal
experiences, using ideas from the text and bolstering our claims with pertinent verses from the
Bible.
Question 1
There are critical elements that must be taken into account when employing punishment to train
a new puppy to make sure it successfully changes the pup's behavior. First and foremost, it's
essential to continue using unpleasant stimuli consistently. For the puppy to understand the
connection between its actions and the results, it must constantly correlate the punishment with
the undesirable behavior. Second, the timing of the sentence is crucial. To make a clear link
between the unpleasant stimuli and the unwanted action, they must come right after it. Delayed
discipline might need to be clarified for the puppy and erode the connection between the deed
and its consequences. Lastly, it's critical to model a desired behavior the puppy can learn to
replace. Giving a puppy praise for engaging in the expected behavior helps to reinforce the
concept of excellent and incorrect behavior.
Question 2
From a Biblical standpoint, conquering fear is firmly anchored in faith and confidence in
a superior being. The Bible states, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love,
3
and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). This means that individuals may overcome their fears by
having a strong faith in and connection to a higher power. The tale of David and Goliath provides
a biblical illustration of how to face fear ( . David, a shepherd child at the time, Bibles, 2008)
overcame his fear and showed strength of faith when he confronted the enormous Philistine
warrior, Goliath. David used a single stone and a slingshot to destroy Goliath.
Personal Example of Overcoming Fear
In my own life, I struggled with a severe fear of public speaking. I would become
nervous whenever I had to give a presentation in front of a group, affecting my performance. I
nonetheless looked for direction from Biblical teachings with the aid of faith and an awareness of
the strength of facing fear. I started to believe in my skills and have faith in God's assistance as I
focused on scriptures like Philippians 4:13, which says, "I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me" ( I began making tiny adjustments to my public speaking abilities, Bibles, 2008).
practicing often, and looking for helpful criticism. My dread gradually subsided, and I saw that I
was gaining confidence in public speaking.
Conclusion
Understanding the influences on control and behavior may result in successful training
and personal development. Consistency, timing, and offering substitute behaviors are essential
when punishing a new puppy to make sure the unpleasant stimuli positively affect the animal's
behavior. According to the Bible, facing fear requires depending on faith, having confidence in a
higher power, and realizing that dread is not from God. The tale of David and Goliath serves as
an example of how faith can drive out fear. Biblical teachings helped me on my quest to
overcome my phobia of public speaking by boosting my confidence in my skills and talents.
