Discuss all 3 components of the Dual-Store Model of Memory. Give an example of the
development of a piece of information through all 3 structures of your memory according to the
Dual-Store Model. At each stage, give the verbal or visual stimulus and the cognitive
processing for transferring information between stages. Include clear biblical principles in your
response.
The Dual-Store Model of Memory is a model that consists of three key components.
These three components consist of the sensory register, the working memory, and the long-term
memory. The sensory register is where information is received and grasped long enough for our
cognitive processing to kick in. The capacity is very large within the sensory registry. The
information that is stored in the sensory registry is stored in the same form in which it has been
inputted, although it only has a duration that is very brief (Ormrod, 2016).
Sensory register takes in our sensory information through our five senses. Our five senses
include sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. An example of this component would be if a
picture was flashed before you for a very brief moment, all the things that you can remember
from this brief picture constitute the sensory register.
Working memory, also known as “short-term” memory could be considered our active
thinking component. This component of memory is where cognitive processing takes place.
Information is identified, saved, and then processed. The working memory includes some
subcomponents. The first subcomponent would be the central executive which keeps order
