1. Your friend has decided to use punishment to train her new puppy. What are three
things she must do to ensure that the aversive stimuli used will alter the pup’s behavior?
My friend has chosen to use punishment to train her new pet. To ensure that the
unpleasant stimuli she administers have an instantaneous effect on the pups behavior, she must
select the aversive stimulus that will serve as the pups punishment, provide the stimulus to the
pup, and administer the punishment. My friend should initially determine the appropriate
punishment. A quick rush of air into the puppys face, a loud noise, a vocal scolding, removing
the puppys goodies, and physical restriction are other unpleasant methods (Domjan, 2018).
Second, my friend must be extremely cautious regarding the timing of the punishment. One of
the most significant aspects of administering punishment is the time between the anticipated
response and the negative consequence. In this scenario, the undesirable stimulus is the
punishment, and the desired reaction is the puppys training. If you wait to discipline the puppy
until you know what it will do, you will have less influence over its behavior, which may render
the punishment ineffective (Domjan, 2018). Once the dog has learned the desired behavior, my
friend can utilize positive reinforcement to train it. Positive reinforcement involves praising your
puppy, playing with your puppy, giving your dog a tiny reward, and even playing with your dog.
Positive reinforcement means that your dog will sit more frequently in the future if you tell it to
sit and then give it something it enjoys (Gibeault, 2021). Using the three methods discussed
above, my friend and her dog will have a wonderful time learning new abilities and becoming
closer as they train.

2. Explain learning to overcome fear from a Biblical perspective. Give an example of
overcoming fear in your life. Use concepts from the textbook and at least two scriptures to
support your answer.
Students are extremely concerned about failing their classes. Some individuals cannot get
over it, even after college graduation. Fear paralyzes them and prevents them from making
important life decisions. I was also concerned about my performance on tests and examinations.
My mother advised me that self-awareness is necessary to overcome these fears. Consider why
you fear failure, work on how you feel about it, and perhaps attempt something you know will
fail. You will understand that failure is not as terrible as it initially appears. I have found that an
effective method to overcome fear is to change ones perspective on the likelihood of failure.
Failure is an inevitable aspect of life, and it frequently affords us opportunities to acquire new
knowledge and hone our abilities. Even though it will undoubtedly be painful, it is essential to
have a healthy perspective toward the potential rewards of failure from time to time. My teacher
also informed me that success is naturally the result of a succession of failures that result in
acquiring new information, skills, and methods. Bible teaches us many things about how to
overcome our fears. I have learned many verses regarding the overcome of fears. Do not be
anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known to God,” Philippians 4:6 (Seglenieks, 2020). And the peace of
God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus,”
Philippians 4:7 (Seglenieks, 2020).
