Worldview and Psychology
When I first took the biblical worldview indicator, I knew that my results were going to
change the second time around . As I have never involved the biblical worldview into my
day to day life. In my second indicator all my constructs increased which means that my
worldview has become more biblically aligned. When I first took the biblical worldview
indicator, a lot of my worldview categories were developing, and now as I have taken my
second indicator, it has increased to building. This shows that I have involved more of the
biblical worldview into my life. And I know as the time goes on my biblical worldview
indicator will reach established. The results have met my expectations, as I have gained
so much confidence and knowledge in my faith with God and just the bible itself. I have
learnt biblical things that I never thought I would be introduced to. Our understanding of
good, will not always match what is set by God.
There are six major constructs of the Biblical Worldview, that play a major role in the
worldview and how Christians understand and study psychology. The first is Ontology, this
is “model of reality as a whole” how we understand reality.(Biblical worldview) Ontology is
how we understand and see our reality, this then essentially leads us to follow God.
Cosmology is the next one, this is “model of the past” where does it all come from?
(Biblical worldview). Cosmology focuses on how we as humans understand how the world
was created, and where it originated from. The third construct is Eschatology. Eschatology
is “model of the future” Where are we going? (Biblical worldview) This deals with how
people deal with death, and the end of the world and what people think will happen and
what people will do. It is referred to as the “last things”. The fourth construct is Axiology,
“theory of values” What is good and what is evil? (Biblical worldview). Axilogy is how
someone decides that something is good or evil. And what makes them have this decision.
The fifth construct is Praxeology, “Theory of actions” How should we act? (Biblical
worldview) This is how a human acts, and what is the right way to act as an individual. The
sixth construct is Epistemology, “Theory of knowledge” What is true and what is false?
(Biblical worldview). Epistemology is similar to ontology, what people know and what
people need to know. As well as what is the correct and incorrect knowledge to know.
All six of the constructs of the Biblical Worldview, impact how we study psychology, as
each construct focuses on something specific, and where everything originates from. As
psychology is science, these impact how we understand psychology.
