a. What is the address for the U.S. District Court for the Western District Court of
Texas?
Western District Court of Texas is located in San Antonio, Texas. The main office street address
is G-65 John H. Wood, Jr. Unites States Courthouse, 655 East Durango Boulevard, San Antonio,
TX 78206.
b. In what city is the main office for the District Court of Utah?
Utah District Court Main office is in Salt Lake City.
c. Federal Judge Robinson would like to serve on the board of his local law school.
Review the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges and determine whether this is
permissible. What canon governs your answer?
There are various codes of Conduct for the United States judges. This code of Conduct includes
the ethical canons that apply to the federal judges and guide how to perform their official duties
without breaking any law. If a federal Judge wishes to serve on his local law school board, it is
permissible. According to Cannon 4A, doing and teaching on the board of the school of law is
acceptable. However, in this case, it should be for the profit of the school law. There his service
will be limited to a nongoverning advisory board. Therefore, to be consistent with this cannon, a
judge might ask or encourage lawyers and associates
to provide pro bono legal services (Code of Conduct for United States judges n.d). Therefore, if
judge Robinson likes to serve on the board at his local law school, he should understand that this
is not his benefit. Hence, he should be ready to work with other lawyers and associates,
especially those practicing law, for their benefit.
