Target Needs Assessment
Wicker Park is filled with many different types of people, all struggling with
pain in different areas in their life. As I live in this community and walk through
these streets, I see many different faces that pass. All of these people come from
different ethnic backgrounds; inancial situations, relationships, religious afiliations
and they all see the world from their own point of view. I can pass these people as I
go along with my own busy life and never truly realize the pain that may be aflicting
them. I can choose to live in my own bubble of safety and never engage life fully by
knowing people who seem different from me. I have the choice to be used in the lives
of others to listen and bring light to the darkness they face.
As I begin my internship, I’ve been noticing people more and more. Part of my
internship at Mosaic Church has been to engage the neighborhood I live in fully and
get to know people’s stories. This happens as I intentionally seek out ways to start
