Abstract
This research paper explores the conflict between flesh and spirit as presented in Psalm
73 and Ecclesiastes 7:15–29. Through close literary and theological analysis, the study
demonstrates that both passages reflect an internal struggle to reconcile human perception with
divine truth. Psalm 73 presents Asaph’s disorientation over the prosperity of the wicked, which is
resolved through a renewed understanding gained in the sanctuary. Ecclesiastes 7:15–29 captures
Qoheleth’s frustration over the unpredictability of justice and the limits of human wisdom. This
paper argues that both texts present a coherent biblical theme: the inadequacy of human striving
apart from divine insight. The study aims to highlight how these texts speak to the larger biblical
vision of spiritual discernment by interpreting each passage within its canonical and literary
context. Intertextual comparisons with Proverbs, Jeremiah, Romans, Galatians, and Job will
support this unified theme.
