Throughout my study of exercise, activity, and food intake, it helped me gather
information regarding how much calories I put into my body and how much or how little calories
that I burn throughout the day. It also puts into perspective how many calories can be burned
from simple activities like sitting still or sleeping. The learning process of food intake and calorie
output is interesting and very educational.
To begin with, in my energy balance report it was recommended that I intake 2144
calories while I consumed 2643 calories. This made my net gain a total of 579 calories.
Personally, I do not have any goals for weight loss or weight gain. However, I am comfortable
maintaining my current weight. With this in mind, I think it is important for me to lower my net
gain to under 100 calories in order to continue maintaining my weight.
My personal health goals include maintaining my weight, balancing the amount of
vitamins I take daily, and incorporating healthier food choices into my diet on a day to day basis.
As far as my activity level goals are concerned, I am beginning setting daily move goals for
myself to reach 6,000 steps per day and to be able to burn the calories that I put into my body. As
a stay at home mom, I feel like 6,000 steps per day is easy, but there are days where I feel
exhausted and lazy. The main goal for these feelings is to stay ahead of them and be mindful that
those days will come around.
In my activity journal report, it shows that the most calories that I burned during that
week was through sleeping. When reading this, it made me feel sad that I was not moving my
body as much as I should be. This resulted in having a net gain of 579 calories, which is not good
for anyone who is wanting to lose or maintain their weight.
In the Bible, God lets us know that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are
to glorify God in our bodies. With this scripture I think it is important to understand that as a
child of God, we must nourish our bodies, take care of them, and honor God with our bodies.
Personally, I could better honor God through my body by being cautious of what I am eating and
how much I am eating. As well as, the amount of movement I do in a day. Therefore, I think
everyone, including myself, has the opportunity and the perfect reason to begin taking care of
our bodies if we are not doing that already.
In order to improve my behaviors and eating habits in order to maintain my weight, or
improve my health, I think it is important for me to find a routine that incorporates a daily
movement activity. I also need to set a diet that is right for me and maintain that diet every single
day. Maintaining my weight is important to me because I think that I am the healthiest I have
been in my entire life and I am at a comfortable weight for me. In order to maintain it, I need to
implement strict dieting and activity routines that are realistic and good for me.
