Introduction
The need for doctorally trained nurses is more extensive than ever (Volkert, Candela &
Bernacki, 2018). As a result, universities have increased the number of doctorate and DNP
nursing courses. Notwithstanding the way that there are more Ph.D. nursing understudies than in
recent memory, they are one of the most un-concentrated classifications of understudies. It is
unsettling, given the high retention rates in Ph.D. schools. This essay reviews Delene Volkert,
Lori Candela, and Matthew Bernacki’s work in a study about students’ intent to quit nursing
doctoral studies.
Part 1: Comprehension
Introduction
The article title, “Student Motivation, Stressors, and Intent to Leave Nursing Doctoral
Study: A National Study Using Path Analysis,” adequately fits the article in the study. It gives a
summary of what to expect in the article. In addition, the authors are all qualified to write an
essay on such a topic. Delene Volkert has a Ph.D. in Nursing Education and works as an
academic administrator at Galen College of Nursing. Another author, Mathew Bermacki, holds a
master’s degree in experimental Psychology and a doctorate in Educational Psychology, while
Lori Candela is a change management and progress mentor. The abstract adequately gives an
overview of the article from objectives, design, findings, and conclusion.
