Eyes
•Three parts:
1. Sclera
2. Choroid
3. Retina
•Presbyopia: can’t see close (aging adult issue)
•Sudden = always cause for concern
•Strabismus: wandering eye
•Diplopia: double vision
•Nystagmus: rapid eye movement
•Corneal light reflex aka Hirschberg test: shine light into sides of eyes
•Cup: disk ratio - cup should be brighter yellow/white than rest of
disk and width not more than one half that of disk diameter.
•Chalazion: infected or inflamed oil gland on eyelid
•Hordeolum: stye on eyelash
•Ectropion: eyelid rolling out
•Entropion: eyelid rolling in
•Anisocoria: unequal pupil size
•Monocular blindness: pupil does not react with direct light
•Homer’s syndrome: one pupil dilated, the other regular

•Iritis: needs immediate treatment
•Primary angle-closure glaucoma: abnormal shaped pupil, foggy/hazy
•Subconjunctival hemorrhage: bleeding under conjunctiva from
injury or increased cranial pressure, body absorbs this on own.
•Pterygium: overgrowth of conjunctiva towards inner eye
•Hyphemia: blood w/in anterior chamber, blood moves with
head movement
•Hypopyon: pus in anterior chamber from infection
