NURSING TERM REFLECTION PAPER 2
I had a hard time in my clinical practice due to a lack of experience and skills required for
patient care. After talking these term classes on Introduction to Nursing, Pharmacology, and RN
skills, I was able to learn a lot to improve my knowledge on my nursing skills and simulations,
which has mostly played an essential role in my current practice on patient care and LVN. The
acquired skills acquired in integration classes had a positive impact, helped me improve, and my
set of nursing skills grow to a higher level. I received several nursing skills during courses such
as critical thinking, communication and compassion which provided me with understanding,
respect, and accommodating patients' preferences. I used several nursing theories in my clinical
practice, including Orem's self-care model theory, that deficits the necessity of nursing care as a
priority when a client is unable to fulfill psychological, developmental, biological, and social
needs (Parker, 2016). Watson’s model is theory that efforts to describe the nursing action
outcomes in reputes to the humanistic facets of life. Lastly, King’s model objective
accomplishment theory that benefits clients to reconstruct constructive edition to the
environment with the use of communication.
In my current nursing practice, the most significant practice issues that have noticed are
affecting the patient population that I serve. These factors include cultural and social factors such
as compensation, workplace violence, short staffing, and workplace hazards. I have noticed the
use of different types of interdisciplinary collaboration, such as consultations between nursing
staff, holistic treatments, and therapies practice, or practical's. Events such as professional
communication, team collaboration, error reporting, and disclosure that I witnessed during my
current nursing practice demonstrated leadership skills, which has primarily impacted patient
safety and quality improvement. Leadership is thus known to take an essential role in patient
care.
