PROJECT: TEACHING ACTIVITY TEMPLATE

Grade Level: Kindergarten Time allowed for project: 20 minutes
Objective: Understand different, basic shapes, describing the shapes and how many sides they
have, and how they can be used.
Virginia SOL: K.10 – The student will identify and describe plane figures (circle, triangle,
square, and rectangle.)
Instructions/Steps in Activity:
1. Identify the shape labled in the left column.
2. In the middle, write how many sides that you see.
3. In the right column, draw one or more examples of where you could find these shapes
and then color the shapes.
For extra fun and practice, I would allow students to bring in a show and tell item that is one
of the following shapes that they are learning about.
