Abstract
The Coach Model book is a different approach in the way coaching styles present
themselves. This process intends for leaders to ask the questions God has instilled in others. You
can learn how powerful conversations are when assisting others. This Coach Model shows ways
to help the life coach with problem-solving, and how to reach and achieve goals and
development. The coach can obtain leadership skills in the process. A good leader is an
exceptional life coach (Webb, Keith). This is a powerful book that focuses on good leadership
skills that will assist in problem solving, helping the team in goal achieving, and focusing on
elements that are essential in their lives. When we as leaders have a connection with team
members, everyone gets a better understanding of the way things should flow. In the Coach
Model, Webb also shows us how actively listening will strengthen the relationship between the
leader and the team. The book also offers tools for guidance on using the Coach Model for
developing relationships. I feel as though when Keith Webb was authoring this book, he
specifically had an intended goal in mind. Webb is a great businessperson and a Christian leader
who had a certain perspective regarding coaching. Regarding implementing effective coaching
styles, the reader has various aspects of coaching either in ministry or corporately. Every area of
life has an impact through coaching, and we are not exempt from the benefits either, as it is
rewarding and gratifying to have all this information. In leadership sometimes there should be a
certain audience for the type of coaching presented. There is a foundation of coaching that Webb
presents that extends to diverse cultures, religions, and corporations. In the book Webb refers to
leaders as coaches. Encouraging others and uplifting them to feel good about themselves and
their walk. Leaders are motivators and good ones. Webb gives four values of a good coach. Be
attentive when others speak, allow room for others to find their own solution, being sure that his
followers are feeling encouraged, empowered, and motivated, and last ask the question that will

trigger deep thinking (Webb, 2019). In the Coach model, Webb gives encouragement for self-
discovery as well as self-development. Self-discovery is another term of awareness as described
in the book. Webb also speaks on five concepts that need to build from to understand and
implement them. In leadership the first key is connection, as Webb mentioned in the book. Being
able to connect with those you lead will allow you to become better equipped to serve in the
position called. In The Coach Model, this book shows that it is all about the growth of the coach
as well as those coached (Webb, 2019). Allowing those that led to come away from the
experience as a better person and one that can provide the same services to the next person
shows what was given is well worth the time. When making the connections with the client it
helps to establish a relationship when multiple visits take place (Webb, 2019). Providing
conversations that are encouraging is one of the models addressed in the book which can assist
the client with reaching goals and moving forward in a positive manner (Webb, 2019, pg. 28). As
a coach and leader, one must possess the right mindset for interacting with others, actively
listening as well as engaging them.

Concrete Response
In revieing this book again, it gives me all the tools needed to become a successful coach.
I pride myself on being able to assist others maneuver through the everyday journey of life. The
examples provided in this book will allow me to become an excellent coach and have a great
leader/follower relationship. The challenging aspects of this book were identifying myself within
it and being able to apply those areas to my life. As a leader my role is to be able to lead other in
a way that imitates Christ. At no time should there be a question regarding my leadership. There
should not be a time where anyone feels more qualified than the other person. We are all called
to do the work of ministry. God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called. I pray my
calling and everything that The Coach Model has taught me, will allow me to be exactly what
God has called me to be. Webb was confused regarding those he wished to help. I pray for no
confusion and clarity regarding my assignment. People may think that I may not be qualified for
the role but, there are those who will be the biggest cheerleaders. We must make sure that what
we are preaching we are practicing ourselves. Being confident in my assignment and knowing
that this is a God call will take me further than I could ever see myself. Webb gives me insight on
being able to connect with those that I lead and have confidence when doing that. Trust plays a
crucial factor in the process. When trust and respect are in place within communication, it makes
the transition smooth. My desire is to be in a place that will produce growth in both parties as
well as contributing to growth. Being in a position to help others see their perspective point of
view and pouring it back into them makes this journey worth the ride.
