Abstract
The author Eckel talk about how with disciplines one can add a biblical sorce of information to
intergrate together. Within this article the author gave a brake down of the construction of
theological as primary source for interdisciplinare studies to help create an approache to a
biblical interdisciplinary which will altogether will give a better understanding to intergrating
biblical theology interdisciplinary education with interdisciplinary education. John Polkinghorne
broke down the best way he could to why to utilize the studies of biblical interdisciplinary. He
gave insight to the interdisciplinary students on having a biblical mindset when it comes to
interdisciplinary education. After reading this article the author showed how God is the center of
our learning and how interdisciplinarity biblical education is centered around God. Thanks to

Interdisciplinary education within biblical theology – a scriptural – philosophical –
educational – practical overview as I read through this article, it opens my mind to how
interdisciplinary education integrates with biblical theology and showing the framework of the
integration. John Polkinghorne the theologist, was very imaginative with the way he broke down
the best way to utilize the studies of biblical interdisciplinary. Polkinghorne wanted to give
insight to the interdisciplinary students how having a biblical mindset interdisciplinary education
does have to be constructed foundationally by using the biblical set of mind. what was most
impressive to me after reading this article was multiple scriptures he presented within this article,
and how he showed biblical theology and knowledge that can work together.
Polkinghorne did not hold back with the beliefs he stated, Jesus is the center of the
learning universe. “The indispensability of theology” gives the basis for properly interpreting all
knowledge accessible because of God’s transcendent unity of all knowledge (Eckel, 2015). He
had a deep understanding of we as humans can not be unattached from God and His will for us
as human beings. We would not be here if God would not have created us, God created all things
on heaven and earth, we were created in his image, however, we are humans and as a human
being will have some human errors from time to time in some point in our lives. logic, rhetoric,
and wisdom are patterns of thought residents within God's ’nature mirrored in human nature
(Eckel, 2015). This is saying from 2 Peter 1, we do not know all things or use our knowledge all
the time when needed this is why we need God’s wisdom and knowledge to carry us through our
day by day walk because without God’s knowledge guiding us every day we will be lost in this
world through our daily lives and our education. Reason and intelligence are effective, God-

given instruments that cannot be dismissed through their use must be tempered with humility
(Eckel, 2015).
I like how he integrated how interdisciplinary education gives God praise by sharing
what Clement of Alexandria stated; by taking fragments of knowledge and make them complete
in Christ. by using from mathematics, fine arts, literary studies, and philosophy, and protects the
faith from all attacks (Eckel, 2015). By applying all these together we will be giving God all the
praise and us as Christian educators the truth through interdisciplinary biblical education.
Now on the objectives side for interdisciplinary education, Eckel does share some
objective over interdisciplinary education which includes: Biblically, Apologetically, Ethnically,
Experientially, Interactively, Relationally, and Practically (Eckel, 2015). We as Christian
educators have to have a different mindset by being objective during the learning process in our
educational process in interdisciplinary biblical education. I also like how Eckel integrated
storytelling and movies to the Scriptures from the Bible showing how God’s words are telling us
stories as well where God is giving us a narrative from the beginning of His story to the end of
His story.
Now should interdisciplinary studies be studied? Interdisciplinary education I believe can be
centered around God or should be this will a better perspective on acquiring Christian knowledge
during their interdisciplinary biblical educational learning. Without biblical theology behind
interdisciplinarity, interdisciplinarity will have no solid foundation. What was Eckel's main goal
for this article, was to through interdisciplinarity combine a biblical and theological mindset with
interdisciplinarity.

From the words of Eckel, (2015), Indeed, a mantra for Christian interdisciplinarity's my form
the centerpiece to engage the whole world and all of life; Knowing where we have come from
(ontology) and where we are going to (teleology) will help us know how to live now (axiology) (
Eckel, 2015).
