discuss is Autism Spectrum Disorder, Autism, and also known as being Autistic,
can be a very mild or very severe disorder, or even a little in between. “With the
May 2013 publication of the DSM-5 diagnostic manual, all autism disorders were
merged into one umbrella diagnosis of ASD. Previously, their was five separate
subtypes, including autistic disorder, childhood disintegrative disorder, pervasive
developmental disorder- not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS) and Asperger
syndrome” (1). Autism can be characterized by difficulties in social interaction,
nonverbal and verbal communication, as well as repetitive behaviors (Handleman
Harris 2015). Autism does not only come with disabilities, some who have the
disorder also excel in some skills such as art, music, visual skills, and math.
Autism is also a very widely known and diagnosed disorder. Statistics on Autism
given from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have identified
that around 1 in 88 children are on the Autism Spectrum. Autism is also five
times more prevalent in males than females (Handleman, Harris 2015).

Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a complex neuro-developmental genetic
condition that was first noted in medical literature when the endocrinologists
published a report in describing an unusual pattern of abnormalities in infants. A
child with this disorder is born, when some material (genes) on chromosome 15
is missing in the parental chromosome. The study noted abnormalities such as
When examining Neurological disorders, the first disorder I would like to
diminished fetal activity, poor muscle tone, feeding problems, sex organs that are
underdeveloped, short stature, retarded bone age, small hands and feet, delayed
developmental, obesity due to insatiable hunger, and a tendency to develop
diabetes in adolescence and adulthood if weight is not controlled. Development
is affected with individuals suffering from this disorder have extreme food
cravings and need to curb it. If proper treatment is undertaken, one can live
longer without and social problems. Individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome
(PWS) have completed school, have developed interest in other areas, and are
employed and leading a successful life away from their families.
Researcher suggests that spiritual practices have been proposed to have
many beneficial effects as far as mental health is concerned. Some studies have
shown that religious involvement and spirituality are associated with better health
outcomes, including greater longevity, coping skills and health-related quality of
life (even during terminal illness) and less anxiety, depression and suicide.
(Mohandas 2008). Religion impact and spirituality in Neurobiology showed that
religion was used as a positive way of coping by 71% of patients and as a
negative way of coping by 14%. Therefore, my analysis is that through spiritual
discipline, prayer and meditation a positive development of neurobiology
development will occur.
