Thesis: Senior abuse or neglect is a significant challenge in the United States that can happen to
anyone, regardless of age, sex, race, ethnicity, religion, or cultural background. This emotional or

psychological abuse, financial exploitation, sexual abuse, or neglect can occur in a senior home
or with a family member, assisted living home, or nursing facility. In addition, it can be by
strangers, self, family members, friends, caregivers, or health providers. “I will sustain you in
your old age and gray hairs, even to the end of your days. The LORD made you; the LORD will
carry you; the LORD will sustain you, and the LORD will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:4). We are all
loved by God, especially the elderly.

A. Senior abuse screening as a general practice
a. Based on existing literature, the elder abuse Decision Support System (EADSS)
was used to collect theoretically important abuser characteristics and victim
vulnerabilities.
B. A psychometric instrument predicting abuser risk and abuser's negative attitudes
toward victims were developed using the Elder Adult Psychological Abuse
Measure (OAPAM).
