The purpose of this exercise is to develop skill at preparing an
oral presentation plan that engages the audience and faithfully
presents the text message.

This exercise involves planning the design of your sermon for an oral presentation. This form follows the
motivated sequence outline combined with the traditional introduction-body-conclusion format.
Introduction
Attention: Finding Comfort in the dark place of life will grow allow for advancement.
Need: How do I find comfort

Textual Idea: ‘Being confident and taking comfort while in chains for Christ”
Sermon Idea: ‘Taking Comfort in servicing God in the darkest place of life”
Interrogative: How do we advance by taking comfort in the darkest place in life
Transition: When we decide to take comfort in servicing God in the darkest place, God’s
kingdom can advance by the service you offer unto Him.

DIVISION 1 STATEMENT
WE MUST LEARN TO TRUST GOD IN THE PROCESS
Explanation: We learn that Paul trust God while in prison
Illustration: Trusting God in the process, show obedient to God
Argumentation: Trusting in the darkest of time can be a challenging but let’s look at John 1:9
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not
afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee
whithersoever thou go.”
Application: God promised to be there with us in hard times and to trust in Him.

DIVISION 2 STATEMENT
We must recognize moments we have to share the gospel, is servicing Him.

Explanation: When we wake up in the morning, there is new opportunities to share God
Illustration: As we see in the book of Philippians, Paul is preaching the gospel even in
prison
Argumentation: Prison as you know it is not a good place to be, but Paul found a way to
service God in his dark place.
Application: We can all learn to focus our attention on God and what He would have us to
do. God is the one that can help in the low times, so why not serve Him.

DIVISION 3 STATEMENT
We must take confident in Him when we are afraid
Explanation. We are all human and it is normal to be a little afraid in the testing times
Illustration: Isiah 41:10 say, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed;
for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will
uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Argumentation:
I am sure that it is not easy be confident at in a difficult time in life but let us look at how
Paul found peace and joy. He was confident as he proclaims Gods word, but He was also
confident in believing in God.
Application: Paul believe God’s Word and He stood firm on it. We must learn to depend on
God and be confident in knowing He will deliver us and bring us out in Victory with
whatever we are facing.
Transition (Div 3 to Div 4)
DIVISION 4 STATEMENT
The dark hour gives God opportunity for His light to shine.
Explanation: In Paul dark hour, He found a way to still share God’s Word and in that God
was able to be glorified in Paul darkest moment.
Illustration: romans 8:28 say,
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for
good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Argumentation
The dark hour does not feel good nor do it always look good, but God uses us in our heart
times to push us to our next level and end, HE gets the glory.
Application: We must be willing to be used by God, no matter the situation. We must
surrender ourselves to Him so that He can use His to get the Glory.

DIVISION 5 STATEMENT
We must keep a pure heart with pure motives in servicing God.
Explanation
Even in all of what you may be going through, we must keep a pure heart in serving God

and do it with joy
Illustration: Paul was able to find peace and be joyful, he was able to do this because of a
pure heart and pure motives
Argumentation: Sometimes our darkest moments may get us to a bitter place
Application I tell you today to keep a pure heart and pure motives so that God can get the
glory out of your life.

Conclusion
Visualization
God know our beginning and He know our last. He knows what trials we would face.
God know what we are capable of handling. God know w=everything about us.
Reiteration
So, we must have the faith and confident in ever hard time and darkest hour in our life.
Action
Let us make up in our mind to day to trust God no matter the situation and service Him
because He gets the glory
