insightful. I would like to expound upon a point you made in your post. You
mentioned that “the result of an extremely detrimental and calamitous danger will
be directed on how ready society is for the disaster.” Preparedness is the one thing
that you can control. Emergency Managers must be able to engage their resources
while evaluating evidence-based data. Preparedness requires progressive
leadership.
Emergency managers must be able to gauge the readiness of the general
population and be able to disseminate the necessary information to government
agencies and the public. This allows organizations & individuals to make an
informed decision on how to move forward. Disseminating information in this day
& age is easier because of the access of social media. The Bible warns us about
being prepared. In Matthew 24:44 (ESV), it states “Therefore you also must be
ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Preparedness is
a requirement for Christ-Centered believers.
One of the quintessential qualities of an emergency manager is their critical-
thinking skills. (McEntire, 2018) suggest that “emergency management directors
must anticipate hazards and problems that may arise from an emergency in order to
respond effectively.” Preparedness can help saves lives and assist emergency
response teams with mitigating disaster-stricken areas. It also gives those areas the
best chance at returning to a level of normalcy. An effective emergency manager
develops an action plan and creates a way to put that plan into action. Preparedness
is a critical phase in emergency management and can be the most Sufficient way to
maximize the safety of others. Alexis, as you originally stated, the outcome of a
disaster is predicated on preparedness. Proverbs 15:22 (ESV) advises that “without
counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” This simply means to
utilize resources to maximize preparation.
