Drawing on the presentations, contrast New England Transcendentalism with the Dark
Romanticism and localism of Southern literary figures.
Your Answer:
These two movements took place from 1840 to 1860. Romanticism and
Transcendentalism have some similarities and differences. One of these differences
was how the perspective was pertaining to God. Transcendentalism tells how God is the
inner strength. Romanticism doesn't really say much about God, but that there is a being
far beyond what they know and understand. They also tell of a darkness and light built
within humans. Dark Romantics believed that all humans would sink to evil things. In the
southern states, literature focused more on Christianity, family, and unity among people.
So the literature was vastly different of the Transcendentalism and Dark Romanticism.
