Exodus 34:6-7 God’s Righteousness and Grace
Righteousness is the quality of being morally right or justifiable. It is the state of moral
perfection required by God. God's righteousness is what God does in fulfillment of the terms of
the covenant that God established with the chosen people. Grace express the concept of kindness
given to someone who does not deserve it: hence, undeserved favor, the degree of favor
bestowed on sinners through Jesus Christ. In Exodus 34:6-7 God is telling Moses about His
righteousness and grace. He explains to Moses His gracious by these means: To Christians, the
goodness of God is a security and knows well that they have been bathed in the death and
resurrection of Christ and now stands wholly righteous before God. He is God of grace- the
human race deserves nothing, have no redeeming qualities, but he generously gives us what we
do not deserve. Longsuffering- God is patient. His anger is slow to rise, corrects, and once serves
its purpose passes. Abundant in goodness and truth- God’s love and faithfulness is unchanging,
like a mighty river are the streams of his grace, ever flowing, and overflowing. Keeping mercy
for thousands- God’s love is not just a feeling within himself. It is an active love that comes out
to the entire human race (John 3:16). Forgiving iniquity, transgression and sin- God forgives all,
so that people may never be afraid to return, even after people longest or deepest falls. God also
tells Moses that is He is still righteous in these respects; to those who reject His mercy the Lord
proves Himself a stern Judge, who does not let the least offense go unpunished, but avenges the
insults to His holiness not only upon the fathers, but also upon the children that follow in the
footsteps of their wicked parents and that down to the great-grandchildren.
Yes, I think that we can impersonate this to the degree that we discipline our child(s) and
still love them, Pretty much as God discipline a follower and still love them, a mother who has a
child(s) who remains in a bad position constantly, in spite of the majority of the pain that kid(s)
presents on the mother, despite everything she still loves them. However, in much regard to God,
we are not the slightest bit all-knowing, thusly our discipline could never be as successful as the
discipline that God would see fit. God is the ideal blend of honorable and generous; we are not
and will never be. Our hearts might be in the ideal place; however, we will never have the
shrewdness that the Lord has.
