•John 2:1–10 (ch. 25) Wedding at Cana - On the third day there was a wedding at
Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited to the
wedding with his disciples. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to
him, “They have no wine.” 4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have
to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do
whatever he tells you.” 6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish
rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.[a] 7 Jesus said to the
servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he
said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they
took it. 9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did
not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water
knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone

the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples. 4 Now the Passover,
the feast of the Jews, was at hand. 5 Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a
large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to
buy bread, so that these people may eat?” 6 He said this to test him, for he
himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred
denarii[a] worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.”
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, 9 “There is a
boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so
many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass
in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Jesus then
took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those
who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 And when they
had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments,

baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had
eaten. 14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is
indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!”
•Matthew 25:38–40 (ch. 27) And when did we see you a stranger and welcome
you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison
