American Literature 201
The lecture notes and assigned readings for this module/week have provided introductory
material and an overview of American literature from the early Colonial period through the
American Renaissance/Romantic period. Provide reasons why it is important to study these
periods of American literature, especially from a Christian world view perspective. Both your
thread and your reply must be well-planned, clearly articulated, and thorough.
It is important to study American literature because it helps us improve and understand early
societies over several different time periods and to document the first settlers. Furthermore,
literature is an important because it is a mirror of America’s history and shows the influences on
a culture, values, and faith. Christians religion play a huge role in American literature with their
ideals, influences, and philosophies to promote a moral life.
In addition, freedom of religion was one of the reasons most people came to American to start a
new life. The value of salvation for many cultural groups were received through religion beliefs.
The complexity and variety of people from early colonial period through the America period will
provide us with insight.
In addition, American literature allows us to analyze their cultural influences and different
literary works such as, artwork, essays, short stories, poetry, and novels from great scholars such
as, Shakespeare, Marlowe, or the Pope to name a few.
