Chapter One: Introduction
Overview
The purpose of this study is to provide recommendations to solve the problem of low
scores in Reading for third grade students at David G. Sanchez Elementary School in Texas. The
problem is that 44% of third grade students scored below grade level in the 2024 STAAR
assessment in Reading ( , 2016; DMAC Solutions Texas Education Agency - Accountability
Reports, 2024).
