The ideology education was based on the belief that teachers needed experience in the
science of teaching. Individualism’s purpose was to connect the education and science
communities. Dewey addressed the instruction differences. Dewey focused on the
importance of equality within education. This article discusses the importance of
individualism and the differences of today’s education. Frank analyzed Dewey’s impression
that teachers with strong skills would be able to non-issues. The adequacy of teachers
would be the focal point of education and the community would utilize it.
Dewey's curriculum structure is based upon a lack of waste when the instruction is left
to an unseasoned teacher. The educators would be taught these settings and methods.
Individualism promotes the social, psychological, philosophical of the students. Any
objections can be reduced through Individualism. Current instruction design of teaching
varies from the past. Dewey determined that educators should establish and work with this
new method of teaching. License, certifications and continuing education for all educators
should only lapse so many years. All of the school staff should be subjected to these
requirements. Faith is no longer promoted among the curriculum in schools and how
important it is for students. This shows how crucial it really is to provide faith through
scripture as it promotes ethics and morals within students education and teaches faith.

The above article discusses John Dewey’s theory of experimentalism and how school
systems use this in the curriculum basis currently. Life experiences are a part of how the
teachers guide and this model shapes their students. The center of how a teacher can
educate and mentor their students. Universities offer this as a credit and call them “life
credits” These can be applied when graduating. Dewey stressed the importance of
individuals when it came to education and wrote several articles/books on the subject. This
led the way for student focused education curriculum. Other countries adopted this and
worked with Dewey to further it. Dewey saw these as a logical way of providing education
and how it would improve a students grades. He believed teachers must have the
experiences and education to provide a solid foundation for their students. An excellent
public speaker had a strong mind and could hold the attention of those listening. Dewey
believed a person’s goals could be achieved through high quality education and life
experiences.
Civil war was a difficult time that essentially opened the way for new ideas such as
experimentalism. Dewey’s own father had fought in it and it changed how Dewey thought.
Leadership roles in education changed after the war .Dewey opened a school named
Dewey Laboratory School, name changed later to University Elementary School. Schools
focus was to be a trial to hopefully open more schools just like it. Expectations was to have
teachers expand their knowledge outside of what happens in the classroom. Today this has
translated over to students being able to select the courses they learn from.

John Dewey was a teacher worried for the future as he saw less religious views coming
from his own mother. He excelled in his career before reaching a point where faith had
become more important within himself. If you have faith in God, then God explains to that
Christians not to worry about anything. The book of Matthew 6:25, Therefore I tell you, do
not worry about your life…" (NIV). Dewey continued with promoting faith within his
teaching , his Co-worker and friend William James was concerned about his teachings.
Christians do not fear as God is our protector of everything living. Pragmaticism is the
principle that evaluates as the person evaluates oneself. Safety is a learned through students
experience and the ability to be provided the secure feeling of safety. Bible scripture
teachers most of these concepts and is found in the curriculum.
Dewey and James discussed the how and the why of the foundation of the curriculum.
While at the same time ,focusing on the religious experiences that would be available in the
reading and writing classes. Individualism was similar to what was around in nature and
should be viewed with an open mind. Dewey would later continue his heated debate with
James on the subject of religion being the foundation surrounding the curriculum taught.
John Dewey would exclaim that God provides all students free will to have the ability to
learn in any way they would like. Students will be provided the ability to take advantage
of all learning styles from anywhere around the world.

Sayman, J., & Carrero, K. (2016). Thoughts on Dewey's Democracy and (Special) Education.
Journal of Thought, 1, 3–14.
Thoughts on Dewey's Democracy and Special Education investigates the alternate options
within the education system. The focus is on how Dewey saw how education worked. The
article focuses on how equality and equity are understood within the education system.
Equality simply means that there are no guarantees in education. Everyone is given the
same tools to achieve the best possible results. Equity means that all of the rules are the
same and would provide fairness to all students. These terms can be transposed and not
clear to all those in education. This makes compliance challenging to those teachers and
administrators required to apply these rules. Teachers should be able to understand both of
these and apply them as needed in each of these situations. Many school districts provide
things like supplies to their students to help ensure all students have the same resources
starting off school on equal footing on the first day.
Special education is viewed as needing a different classroom setting for children in these
classes. Their physical and mental limitations should be individually addressed.
Curriculum set for these students make it difficult without modifications to learn basic
concepts such as reading or writing. Classes are assigned based on the students’ abilities.
Altering things such as time limits on tests or read instructions more than once for these
learners. The special education curriculum is not perfect and has some flaws. It is
important to note this is ever changing and improvements are made over time.Teachers
must have patience and have the ability to adapt to these changes to make the best decisions
for these children.

Sikandar, A. (2015). John Dewey and His Philosophy of Education. Journal of Education and
Educational Development, 2(2), 191–201.
John Dewey was viewed as an inspirational influential person to the education system
during the twentieth century and has changed the views on philosophy of education that we
all know of today. Dewey found some issues with the autocratic and current structures of
the education system, he believed that his theory to reorganize education, which places the
child at the center of the educational system and giving contribution to its own learning as
the better model (Sikandar, December 2015, p191). Dewey believed the fundamental reason
for education should not focus solely on a list of skills. Dewey said the goal of education is
an ever-changing one, as society is constantly changing therefore making the need for
education to change as well.
Dewey began changing the focus on how schools thought and determined that educators
needed to import the experiences as a way to balance the education for their students.
He promoted experiences to learn emphasizing the need for social skills, critical thinking
and problem solving. This changed education and teachers views on being more of a guide
for their students rather than promoting a strict set of skills. This helped promote teachers as
crucial part of the learning process for their students. This thought of child-centered
education helping to bring the students into a more involved part of their education. All
along Dewey’s philosophy of education experiences help students learn and grow in their
thoughts and how they see the world. Interactions and experiences are another important
principle Dewey believed guided students into a cohesive thought process.

The didactic concern method gives guidance to the roles in education that John
Dewey shaped, such as humanism, political beliefs, sense, and views. These
guiding foundations were built through the views of democracy and education through
children. Children were the focus of the original thoughts on the individualism theory as it
was making the movement to more progressive education system. . Dewey’s views were
that experiences were critical in the factor of how education and how teachers should teach
their students. Dewey lived through the two world wars. This inspired him to be involved in
making education humane across the globe. Education should be diverse and molded to fit
the individual students and not a “cookie cutter” once size fit all approach. Social reform
was rooted in the democracy of education. Each of Dewey’s experiences provided him with
a new concept that could be applied in education. This driving philosophy made great
contributions to today’s education.
Dewey wanted to ensure all children had the social skills and development to thrive and
learn. Children’s education provides them the skills need to succeed in society and being
socially competent. Humanism theory promotes the ability to learn through imitation and
culture. To understand how these experiences work, understand learning will continue and
promote growth in the child’s development.
A child learns how to play baseball and they learn to hit the ball with the bat. They are
learning to aim as the ball heads towards them. Each of their schools from elementary to
high school shape this experience and learning skills.

His philosophy has proven to improve the lives of students.
Synthesis of Articles on John Dewey
John Dewey was an academic philosopher and educator that taught from 1884 to 1930. He
worked tirelessly to fight the difficulty of developing a curriculum that all children could benefit
and learn through. During Dewey’s experiences, he created many theories such as individualism
and democracy in education. Instruction should be equal to all students in the education system that
does not provide equality for all. Training should be equal to the courses that teachers are teaching
and improves their instruction. During instruction, children need to be challenged based on their
skills and teaching adjusted to match their learning abilities. Curriculum will be changed based on
these observations and the educators will report these back to administration to make those
changes. Learned experiences will provide children the important skills of social, morals, values
and even confidence. Social status would not effect what these children would learn since many of
the social influences were learned through class. Dewey's ideology still currently resides in the
education system and has provided progress and positive changes to many learners over the years.

student’s education.
Community life would be the setting of individual’s educational experience basis and students'
ability to learn from one another. John Dewey Hypothesized that socialization was an important
part of children’s education. Instruction would provide a better life and improve the financial
standing in the community for these students. Children’s education provides them the skills need to
succeed in society and being socially competent.
Preliminary Thesis Statement: John Dewey
Life experiences were a crucial part of John Dewey's theory. It cannot be applied to online
students, since the individualism component is vastly missing from the online instruction method.
Individualism and democracy based curriculum should be combined with life experiences.
