Abstract
Introducing new concepts and ideas is something that demonstrates growth and improvement.
Although the how and what is organized in our head, if we do not properly communicate the
objective, everyone’s role, the evaluation measurement, and the desired outcome then that new
idea or concept will be another “something” that did not work. To prevent this from happening,
supervisors or organizers must practice communicating the plan to everyone, despite their level
of involvement especially when pertaining to technology.

The Podcast Communication Plan
When introducing anything new there needs to be a plan to define the implementation of
the new item. Everyone needs to know the roll out especially individuals that are involved in
implementing the new item. One of the new yet everchanging concepts that impacts not only the
world but also education is technology. One of the new ideas floating around is the use of
podcast in education. The goal of using podcasts is to promote learning outside of the classroom
to increase learning gains to improve grade level instruction that can seen at the end of the year
test scores.
Benefits of Podcasts Utilization
There are several benefits to utilizing podcasts in the classroom. As much as some people
would like to admit, every student does not grasp the lesson in the classroom or the first or
second time its taught. A thing that we hope for is parents of our students can and will help their
child with their homework. The problem that educators are finding is that parents may be willing
to help their child with their homework, but they do not understand the lesson themselves. This is
one of the ways that podcast can be beneficial. Students and parents can watch the podcast at
home or in a setting that promotes learning to gain an understanding of the lesson being taught.
A second benefit to using podcasts is to use in the absence of an educator (Lutkevich,
2022). Using podcasts while an educator is out allowing students to continue learning. The
scheduled lesson and standards are continued. This allows educators to stay on the pacing guide
for the topic and ultimately for the year.
Another benefit for using podcast is student review. Podcast can be created by students as
a review of the topic or lesson taught. Students can create their own podcast and review other

student podcast to see if there is anything they have missed or can be viewed differently. This
may entail the asking of questions, which promotes additional learning.
The Plan by item
The plan by item purpose is to educate students in the absence of an educator, promote
and allow learning outside of the classroom and review the topic that has been presented. The
targeted audience is the grade level students and parents. The frequency of the podcast is every
module. The designated times that podcast will be complete is mid-way through the module and
at the completion of the module. If an educator knows that they are going to out, a podcast can
be completed to teach the scheduled lesson. If an educator is out unexpectedly, then the midway
podcast or end of the topic podcast can be shown in lieu of the scheduled lesson. This will allow
students to know what they are supposed to have learned at the completion of the topic. The
person(s) responsible are grade level educators. The person that is authorized to release the
podcast is the Math Coach.
The Plan by Person
The plan by person includes the principal, math coach, grade level educators and
Information Technology Tech. The stakeholder Principal is Elizabeth Stansel. The principal’s
project role/goal is to seek and provide feedback on podcast from parents and students. The
principal is looking for the effectiveness of the podcasts. The principal’s event role is to ensure
that podcasts are created to supplement the lesson and not replacing actual instruction. The
special instruction for the principal is to inform parents through the newsletter and school
website of the podcast.
The stakeholder Math Coach is Ashley Matson. The project role/goal for the Math Coach
is to assign and coordinate the lesson and topic and create deadlines for each educator to

complete their podcast. The event role for the Math Coach is to start podcast in the absence of
the educator in the school environment. The special instructions are to review all podcasts and
assign the release dates.
The Stakeholder Grade Level Educators, 7th Grade, are Rhosalee Stewart, Tierra Sermons
and me, Apryl Jones. Grade Level Educators project role/goal is to educate grade level students
inside and outside of the classroom. Grade Level Educators are promoting learning through a
creative yet engaging platform. The event role is to record podcasts in an engaging and
informative manner. The special instructions for Grade Level Educators are to strategize and
critique potential questions that students could potentially ask and present the answers in the
podcasts. The best practices that the Grade Level Educators will use are intro and exit music, the
opening or closing slogan Math logo “When your math ain’t mathing…”.
The Stakeholder Information Technology Tech is Gotrel Poitier II. The project’s
role/goal is to provide technical support while recording podcasts. The event role uploads the
podcasts on the school website. The special instructions are to provide technical feedback while
recording podcast and difficulties uploading the podcast.
