book.
Reading the

I will stop at least 3 times while reading the story. I will list the page number to where I plan to

Part 2 - Personal Reflection
Introduction
The book that I chose for the interactive read long was “The Very Busy Spider” by Eric
Carle. I chose this book because it centered around that the spider was dedicated to completing
her task. Which is beneficial for children in this age frame to make them understand that nothing
should stop them from completing and fulfilling their goals. We know that children in this age
group don’t have the attention frame to stay focus while completing certain task. In a school cli-
mate where many teachers may feel under pressure to spend little time engaging in reading
aloud, this intellectual and emotional richness provides and argument to justify what we know is
a potentially meaningful literacy experience for children” ( Galda, L. 2017).
What Worked Well
I believe that the theme of the story and having them understand to focus on certain goals.work-
ing in groups worked well while working on this assignment and the read along. They focused
and listened well during the process.
What Did Not Work
I believe that I should use more media and to have the students understand the task more
in depth. If not processed successfully this would make the children lose their focus quickly send
have them not interested in the task at hand. This would help them understand to focus and be-
come more attentive to task while in the classroom.
What I Would Do Differently
I would make the read alongside more interactive and try to work harder to keep the chil-
dren more on task. There would be three questions that I would ask, but I would ask more to
make sure that the students are fully understanding the task that is given to them.
What I Would Keep the Same
I would keep the engagement and keep on the topic of staying on task when completing
certain activities. I would keep the task in a interactive way . I liked that we were able to talk
about how to keep children on task while in the classroom. It is understandable that most chil-
dren in this age group can’t stay focus while completing certain task while around their class-
mates.
Listener Takeaway
What the Students Learned
I believe that the students have learned a lesson from the book itself and learned about
the beginning, middle, and end of a book and be able to name the important parts on another
book.
Explanation
I believe that this book was age appropriate based on the 1st to 2nd grade level, they are
trying to understand to stay focus, having patience and so many other things while reading this
book. It’s important to teach them that it is okay to be independent and learn to be by themselves.
This will be beneficial in the years to come for them.
Conclusion
This read along was my first one and it was very interesting to create and to teach for children.
When the class is engaged it makes the atmosphere of the classroom more peaceful and easier for
the teachers in the class. Having this be a interactive assignment was amazing because children
at this age need to learn how to be patient and it’s okay to want to do things by themselves to
complete certain task. This will help with teaching children about the interesting thoughts going
on in this book.
