CASE STUDY: Trevor Assignment
In a fun preschool classroom that is completely full of fifteen students and two teachers,
there is a sweet young boy that is introduced by the name of Trevor. The teachers are conscience
of Trevor containing several behavioral issues and daily experiences a significant challenge with
focusing on tasks at hand. “We are dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood
education that supports every child and every community.” (HighScope Foundation, 2025),
para.1.). In essence, Trevor’s mother states that he is “all boy” and will grow out of this stage.
The teacher’s desired to relieve his mother’s thoughtful perspective in a positive manner with
viewing the notion of “four-year-old Trevor will grow out of his “all boy” stage. The scenario
with Trevor is highly recognized as an issue in the early childhood classroom and didn’t
positively benefit the other children. Unfortunately, due to Trevor’s outlashing behavioral
uncertainties of acting out, resonates the other students and parents to ultimately confront
differing opinions about the privately owned daycare. By gaining insight on the child’s
behavioral issue, the teachers cultivate a meeting to participate in by attaining meaningful
conversations on Trevor’s educational requirements. The scheduled discussion time reflects on
the trouble occurring inside the classroom, resulting in many complaints from the other
children’s parents. “Research shows that high-quality early childhood education has lasting
positive outcomes. Our curriculum approach, based on the concept of active learning, leads to a
positive impact on children’s success in school and in life.” (HighScope Foundation, 2025),
para.1.).

The standpoint, positively impacting the children’s success in school and in life, resides at the
daycare facility truly resonates the core values from the teachers. One’s expression to a unique
person is completely contingent upon their personality will fervently impact the daycare owner
prominently. These accusations will impact other parents to enact threats on the daycare owner
and may not respectively switch their child to another daycare facility.
As the teacher in this classroom, I would focus my time on meeting with Trevor’s parents
at a nice coffee shop to solve and correct the root of the problem concerning Trevor and his
classmates. “Most young children, however, experience one or more developmental irregularities
that may or may not require special attention.” (Cengage, 2024), 11thed.). Prio to the scheduled
meeting, I would prepare an array of specialized techniques to help with Trevor cope with his
behavioral issues that causes all the teachers on staff to immediately end the teaching session to
work with the possibility of other preschoolers potentially hurting him. Precautions are
established to keep Trevor safe at the daycare facility. Scheduling a good time to meet with his
parents and learning as much as I can about the situation, would benefit the way the materials
should be taught in class with Trevor’s condition. After our discussion on their academic

core beliefs for Trevor and his lifestyle at home, I would plan to have a talk with only their son
Trevor outside at a playground. “Age alone does not determine a child’s capabilities, but it does
provide a more complete picture of the whole child, as well as guidelines for establishing
appropriate expectations in growth and behavior.” (Gordon, A.M. and Browne, K.W., 2024),
11thed.). The following week of classes, I would first begin implementing a mix of unique
educational techniques into my lesson plans to help with all the students. I feel that setting a
thoughtful understanding to experimenting with the different ways of learning would benefit the
whole classroom. I would define a more sense of purpose and direction to the class of students as
this will stress that equally, Trevor and all the students are undeniably smart and important.
When talking with Trevor’s parents, I would discuss how other parents are endorsing
specific threatening accusations to the owner of the daycare facility and confronting alarming
opinions about sweet Trevor’s behavioral issues. “Any abnormal pattern of behavior which is
above the expected norm for age and level of development can be described as “challenging
behavior”.” (Anindya Kumar Gupta, 2023, para. 26(1):91-94.). I would effectively
communicate and imply to his parents a new educational practice to try at home. This could be
nicely incorporated throughout his school day. Introducing a cohesive therapy session that is age
appropriate would be beneficial as well to help him focus on his lessons. “We use guidance and
discipline

strategies based on the expected behaviors common to a given age range.” (Gordon, A.M. and
Browne, K.W., 2024, 11thed.). : Throughout our conversation, I would like to demonstrate to
Trevor’s parents his slight delay on interacting with the other students and continues to have
trouble with frequently throwing objects, hitting other children, screaming for attention, and cries
frequently. I would reflect my thoughts of how it breaks my heart to see Trevor experience this in
class and I want to help him succeed academically. I would offer to his parents that he is
welcome to stay after class to review the essential academic skills to help him progress in
education.
As a parent of a student in Trevor’s room, my loving heart would prevent me from
making any threats to the owner of the daycare facility. I have a caring spirit about me and would
love to reach out to Trevor’s mom about giving Spiritual advice. I would hope this could
encourage her and give a better understanding of how to cope with Trevor’s behavioral issues.
“About 22.7% of children among the total study population were found to have behavioral
problems such as anxiety, hyperactivity, argumentativeness.” (Anindya Kumar Gupta, 2023,
para. 26(1):91-94.). I would lovingly express my heartfelt concerns and sympathetic opinions to
the teacher and owner. My decided plan of action would be to volunteer in Trevor’s classroom to
observe his behavior and how he significantly interacts with all my children. Rather than
attempting to remove my child from attending classes, I would state the facts and avoid the
opinions from other parents. I feel that a vast majority of parents that I have interacted with at
this daycare are full of hate to sweet Trevor

than for the LQBTG community. At the end of the day, I would have a conversation with
Trevor’s teacher to see if I can better understand more about his behavioral issues.
As a preschool teacher, I reflect upon the entire class with enthusiasm. Unfortunately,
they are affected by Trevor’s behavioral issues. The unexpected screams and hitting have
considerably arisen to my attention. The early childhood education program has been fervently
recognized as a prominent requirement to supporting the safety needs of children from potential
outlashing behavior from other classmates. I am concerned that Trevor’s safety is at risk since
the other children appear to dislike his overall character. “In the inclusive classroom, with
sensitive and knowledgeable teachers, children with exceptionalities are helped to realize their
potential as growing and learning children.” (Gordon, A.M. and Browne, K.W., 2024, pp.13a.). I
believe that it is my job to help Trevor academically as well as emotionally. He frequently acts
out and disrupts the class lessons unintentionally. I have noticed a significant change in some of
my classmates and it has really been hurtful as a teacher to witness in class. Their reaction
towards Trevor has been devastating. My goal is to create a behavior chart for Trevor to put
stickers on. I would encourage him to add his favorite stickers to his chart to win a prize from the
prize box. Sustaining a positive reinforcement to the class will provide extra direction and
encouragement for all the students. Strengthening good behavior from a favorable action will
positively impact throughout his overall grades. According to psychologists, setting a substantial
daily routine of encouragement will impact how other students can accept and react towards
another student with a behavioral

disability. My intentions are to positively influence Trevor’s behavior by arranging a craft for
“Children Who Are Exceptionally Gifted and Talented” with all the students.
In conclusion, reflecting on Trevor’s behavioral approach with the other classmates, he
essentially needs medical attention on learning how to cope with focusing on school. From my
understanding, Trevor is a four-year-old boy that could learn to control his behavior. Seeking the
help of implying to Trevor’s requirement from his teachers and parents, would ultimately benefit
his learning disability dramatically. Firstly, he should acquire a better understanding of his
behavior by using the handy-dandy behavior sticker chart. Trevor’s positive reaction to the fun
behavior chart will surprisingly impact the children to love him as he excitingly learns to grow
out of his “all boy” stage.
