Case Study: LaTonya
LaTonya, a five-year-old, is finishing up her last year of preschool before
beginning kindergarten. This preschool is located in the local public school, which
requires all students to be evaluated in order to determine if they are ready for
kindergarten.
The evaluation technique I believe can be utilized to measure LaTonya's
Kindergarten preparedness can be to properly create and evaluate the curriculum
to fulfill LaTonya's requirements. I feel that planning activities which Latonya likes
and finds manageable, as well as those that encourage her, is critical to her
growth. Curriculum activities are long-term strategies for helping students grow.
Latonya's kindergarten will hopefully get an understanding of who she is by
preparing and attentively studying her strengths and limitations, as well as
skillfully reporting the findings of the observation.
A portfolio is the finest type of assessment for providing the new teacher
with an overview of who Latonya is. The portfolio comprises a wide range of work
from various overdrawing references. The portfolios can also emphasis important
abilities and characteristics valued by the programs, the families, and the
children’s communities, in which are key factors of evaluation. Also, portfolios can
provide a group appraisal of the learning process, which the outcomes largely for
the benefit of the instructor or the school. It may take some time for results to
provide the student or parents the answers they need for the student’s evaluation
are frequently incomplete in which the students are seldom to be reevaluated. So,
the Summative Assessment may have minimal influence on enhancing individual
students' knowledge and/or performance.
In conclusion, personalizing exercises to individuals' talents and limitations
would benefit not online Latonya but her entire class as well. It may be difficult in
a large class setting, but as time passes, it’ll become simpler to assist all the
students through their progress. Examinations and quizzes provide educators with
information about the student’s knowledge of their understanding at some point in
time, and portfolios can document the students evolvement, maturity, and
improvement as students over a throughout the school year. As the Bible says,
"consider it all joy, my brethren, when you meet various tribulations, knowing that
the testing of your faith creates perseverance."
