EARLY LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT TEMPLATE
Area 1: Approaches to Play and Learning
Description Students at a young age start learning when they play because at a young age they
will start to develop interest in things and so they will keep doing that one thing
because they like it. In the preschool age they are so curious about things so they ask
questions and there favorite one to ask is why. The later age in preschool is when
they want to find out what happens if I do this. Also the early toddler age will try
different things on if they do one thing what will happen if I do it differently. With
there minds when they are playing they will learn better then when they are doing
nothing because with there young minds doing is better.

Sample
The example I would use would be have them build something with blocks. The
instructions would be to grab 10 blocks each. Then build something with all
blocks.
Then they have to explain what they built and why. With this it give their mind
something to think about and if they are able to explain why they made what they
made with there blocks will be beneficial in the long run.
So the example would be this. A student built a house with their 10 blocks then the
student will answer these questions with a house, I built a house because it reminds
me of my house with my family.
Contextual Analysis When looking at late preschool age they will be able to use the materials in the
classroom apocopate because of their minds have gotten older with there
development. Their minds were able to understand what is right and wrong and also
they are responsible for there actions over there minds, words because of the fact
that with play and learning plays hand and hand to each other for young minds
because of the fact that the human mind learns new things everyday. In my research I
found this how it talks about how using game will enhances in there learning. The
reason why is because young minds learn better doing something fun.
Area 2: Social and Emotional Development
Description Schools are a great way to have social aspects because it helps with there
development because they are just figuring out how they interact with other students
and teachers. One thing to take notice is that emotions also run really high because of
the fact that they are excited- and joyous but they also might feel anger, sadness
tiredness. This is a good way for them to succeed in the learning environment. Also a
great way for the young minds create strong relationships with people and with this
key learning tool they will carry it all though life. Not only will the kids create positive
relationships but they will also have a positive relationship with them self’s and they
might start to think that they can do great things.

Sample
An example would be an activity where they have to interact with each other to lean
something about each other that they would not normally know. With them doing
this this activity is find a friend. Which many elementary schools did that at the start
of the school year. The Instructions are look at the paper that was handed out you
will have 5 minutes to talk to people to find if they have done anything or can do on
the paper that was handed out. You will mark that spot with an x in that spot. Then
when you have all spots marked return back to your seat. A good sample would be
make a friend bingo sheet that asks if they have a dog if they had one then they
would put an x in the box.
Contextual Analysis With social and emotional development is something that they start to learn at a
young age because they are learning to interact with other students and teachers.
This is a vey important thing because if they never learned how to interact with other
people then they will have a hard time in society. One thing to take notice is wither it
is in a school system or later in life what and how they interact will carry on for a
while. They also learn you use problem solving to help get past those powerful
emotions they feel if they are mad they can work through it sad they can work
through it any emotion they will be able to work past it.
Area 3: Communication, Language and Literacy Development
Description The way children communicate is amazing because of how they do it, it can be facial, actions,
words. One thing to take notice is that all children communicates in a social context with
meaningful purpose. With this is a learning development because when they read books use
writing or even pictures it gets there minds working and helps them to develop tools to use in
social environments but also it will help them later in life as well. With the young age these
children get familiar with words and sounds and using them to interact will help them have a
better understanding of how they work together to make words but also because they will be
able to communicate using words and sentences that is defiantly better in the long run.

In the preschool age they are learning to write and also speak so I would use this in a fun
activity so they can have that interaction. First, I would have the class sit down and face the
board. Then I will have one student come up and tell everyone what they did over the
weekend or anything fun they did. After they have spoken then the students who are sitting
down will raise there hand to ask questions. This will carry on until everyone has gone. A
sample of how this works would be say I was that age and I said I watched tv then one
student would ask me what did you watch and I would tell them I watched mickey mouse.

Analysis
Learning at a young age is very important and if learning is their communication, then why
would we deny that because at that age they are starting to learn and it is important to
understand this. There communication is different from older students and adults because
they are just learning to communicate so they won’t know that many words and also there
facial expressions is also how they communicate too. In the preschool age they are learning
many tools that they use like reading, writing and also communication and language is also
what they are learning as well. They way they show facial expressions is also as important as

when they use words because that is how they communicate with out knowing they are
doing that.
Area 4: Health and Physical Education
Description When they are at a young age, they use many senses because they are not familiar with them
and so when they use indoors and outside. When they are walking, they are building muscles.
That is how health and physical is important at this age because these kids need to be healthy
and with doing physical actives will help them learn how to use not only their brain but also
there body movements. With them using senses they are becoming aware of space, body and
relationships because they are learning how things move in our body and also if someone
doesn’t like to be touched, they are learning personal space.

I feel like a good example of an activity that helps keeping them moving is dancing because
they use movement and it will help them learn. I could even go further and count to 100 by
dancing. So the instructions that would be is spread out and listen to the music and dance
but when the music stops you freeze then we will count to 10 then the music will start again
and you go back to dancing then when the music stops, we will count from 10 to 20. We will
continue until we reached 100. A sample would be that I was playing a fast passed gospel
song and then stop and we will count 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 then play the music and start again.

Analysis
With physical education it is important because they are learning to move and be active to
help with them building up muscles in there legs and arms but more importantly their minds
are building muscles as well because of the fact that it takes brain power to move your legs
and arms. Dancing is a great way to move because they are using their senses and also there
legs arms. The key thing is to keep these kids learning wither it is by brain power or physical
because it will help them later on and some might even be the next president, famous
person, teacher and if we didn’t help them at a young age then later in life they will struggle.
Area 5: Cognitive Development
Description Young children at toddler or even preschool age is where they are trying different things
because of the fact that is how they are learning but unfortunately this is the age that what
they do drive the adults crazy because they are throwing things, climbing and even throwing
things is how they are learning about different things in the world around them. Its
extremely important for the kids to learn because it will help them in the long run but one
thing is that at this age they learn by doing the annoying stuff and educators or caregivers
need not to make it hard for them to learn.

This one is hard to figure out what would be a good activity for them to do that dose not
seem like they are behaving they way they should not be. One way they can do is draw a
picture about what ever they want. The instructions is you can draw anything you would like
on this printer paper then they will talk about what they drew. They will have access to colors
so they can make there picture colorful so that it will be better to understand what they are
doing and why they drew it. A good sample of this would be someone drawing a picture of
them playing with there toys and they drew that because that is when they feel happy.
