Question Related to the Concept of Supervising Instruction
Considering the concept and practice of supervising instruction, several questions come
to the forefront:
● Is helping educators to address diversity in classrooms the most important responsibility?
● How does a democratic society cultivate moral principles?
● What is a realistic timeframe for facilitating necessary change?
● How does one retain a collegial approach to supervision in a rigid, hierarchical system?
● How does one exercise the fruits of the Spirit while shifting between necessary
assertiveness and lavish empathy?
Synthesized Emphasis of Course-related Questions
For the duration of this course, one could argue that the chief excitement is not only
learning how to be an effective supervisor but also a helpful supervisor. There is considerable
interest in providing educators with research-based strategies and practical tools to empower,
embolden, and encourage their students. According to Glickman et al. (2017), he mentions that
“when supervisors work with teachers in a manner consistent with the way teachers are expected
to work with students, then—and only then—does the school reach its goals” (p. 8). There is
strong evidence indicating the necessity of demonstrating desired behavior.
Additionally, there is equal interest in exchanging inclinations of pessimism for an
optimistic vision grounded in reality. Sin has permeated every aspect of the human experience,
perverting what God has deemed “good.” Considering this, there is a compelling concern of not
simply addressing symptomatic issues, but exuding an aroma of Christ that cultivates an
environment in which courageous conversations and professional camaraderie may develop in a
realistic timeframe, therefore, addressing deeper concerns.
