Assessment
Amara is seeking counseling because of her increased anxiety due to several significant
life changes. The symptoms Amara has reported are fatigue, sadness and worrying which can be
symptoms of various mental health disorders. The significant disorder that Amara is displaying is
a form of anxiety disorder. While determining Amara’s diagnosis, the Hamilton Rating Scale for
Anxiety The Hamiliton Rating Scale for Anxietywill be used. (HAMA) is a collection of 14 items
that are rated from 0 to 4 which measures the severity of ones’, anxiety (0 = absent, no
symptoms; 1 = mild, occurs irregularly and for short periods of time; 2 = moderate, occurs more
