ETHICAL DECISION MAKING 2
Abstract
Counselors must follow various rules in order to protect their clients and the counseling
relationship. In the video we encounter a short story of a husband asking a counseling practice
receptionist to pass along time sensitive information to his wife who he believes is a client at the
counseling center. The receptionist in turn confirms to the husband that she will indeed pass
along the time sensitive information when she encounters his wife. A moment later the wife
comes out to the front desk and is alarmed that her husband was there and knows that she is in
counseling at the center. Presented here we have the problem of a receptionist who unknowingly
confirms to a husband that his wife is in indeed in counseling at the center when he was not sure
if his wife was in counseling to begin with let alone at this particular center.
