Thank you for your discussion and the comparative analysis of both counseling
situations. I agree with your observation of the similarity of the two scenarios based on their
cognitive-behavioral files. Indeed, the primary role of a counselor is to help the clients in
overcoming unsuitable behaviors (Simmons, Lilley, and Kuhnley, 2020). I also agree with your
rating of the first counseling session to be more effective compared to the second one. However,
I feel that the second counseling scenario was also effective as the counselor reviewed the
impacts of the previous session with the clients. I am also concerned about the consent of the
client with regard to the discussion of previous counseling sessions. Do you think that the client
should authorize such reviews through informed consent forms instead of verbal agreements?
I feel that your identification of professionalism through one’s body language is also
important. This is one of the most assumed areas by counselors, thereby resulting in poor
interpretations of their facial expressions and bodily postures. I would be interested in hearing
your views about the potential of eye contact being intimidating for clients. In some cultures,
prolonged eye contact could be interpreted as being overly intimidating, especially when the
parties involved are of opposite gender orientations.

Thank you for your accurate and informative e discussion of the eight stages of
psychosocial development. In particular, the specific application of the theory in interpreting the
behavior of the two children is highly effective and laudable. I agree with your association of the
first child with the initiation vs. guilt stage based on the child’s attempt to gain the trust of the

people in authority. However, I feel like the child is almost outgrowing this stage based on his
continuous search for independence in his interactions with family members. As noted in Wong
et al. (2014), parents have a responsibility of balancing between freedom and independence in
facilitating the growth and development of their children.
Still, I find your interpretation of the second child within the second stage to be accurate
and relevant. Indeed, children in the second stage of development express a high sense of
curiosity based on things that they recognize. While I agree with the accurate depiction of the
stages in these children, I feel that a more detailed description of their applicability among adults
would have improved the breadth of your discussion. That notwithstanding, the discussion
benefits from a combination of critical thinking and mastery of course concepts.
