Kindness, patience, and understanding are vital qualities to have when it comes to being a
Christian. Christians are encouraged to love one another by being slow to anger and exhibiting
compassion in all situations. 2 Timothy 3:16 shares, “all scripture is breathed out by God and
profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and training in righteousness” (English
Standard Version Bible, 2021). It is critical to be well-versed in interpersonal communication
strategies to excel in these areas. Individuals and their characteristics must be understood to
communicate effectively. According to research, personality is a visible reflection of and
influence on conduct (Knapp & Daly, 2011, p. 133). The better one understands why others act
the way they do, the more effectively one can interact with them. Individuals benefit from
education on the subject of communication as it promotes the development of practices, skills,
and mindsets (Sahertian et al., 2021). The time and effort it takes to seek communication and
relationship understanding demonstrates a great deal (Sahertian et al., 2021)of care and devotion.
Christians may strengthen their relationships when it comes to potential disputes and events by
putting effort into understanding those around them.
When it comes to understanding individuals, there are various factors to consider, ranging from
demographic factors to communication-related character traits (Knapp & Daly, 2011, p. 135).
Several qualities and characteristics aid in understanding interpersonal communication, yet each
person is unique. Despite differences, Christianity shares that all followers are a part of the same
body of Christ. Romans 12:5 states, “so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each
member belongs to all the others” (English Standard Version Bible, 2021). It's crucial to treat
others as brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as to actively listen and stay fair in understanding.
That isn't to imply that conflict won't emerge; but, being well-prepared with the right tools can

help.
A Christian can use several approaches, such as active listening and understanding, to implement
interpersonal communication concepts. Humans, according to studies, are goal-oriented beings
that often participate in discourse to attain their objectives (Knapp & Daly, 2011, p. 170).
Understanding the intentions of people in a disagreement helps resolve conflicts. Knowing one's
goals, however, isn't enough to achieve them. Because of the capacity to communicate
effectively, knowledge has a significant impact in this area. James 1:19-20 mentions, “let every
person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the
righteousness of God” (English Standard Version Bible, 2021). Those people who follow God
can better understand their communicative awareness due to the trust of His word.
