BOOK REVIEW 2
Introduction
There are various books on leadership, especially in modern society. In the current world
leadership is an important aspect and therefore there are thousands of leadership books on the
shelves and in the different libraries globally. However, there are few instances of leadership books
on Christianity. The book conviction to lead by Albert Mohler entails aspects of leadership and
principles. The book has 244 pages and it entails Christian leadership. Mohler was born in 1959,
and growing up he had some leaders to look up to such as Ronald Ragan and Winston Churchill,
who portrayed great leadership skills. Having great people to look up to in the leadership he goes
to an extent of pertaining voluntary services at 1976 republican nomination Reagan’s first crusade
(Mohler, 2012). At first, Mohler decided to attend the political science school in college but it
seemed as if God had other plans for him as later he decided to join the seminary. At the seminary,
he did not attend leadership classes and therefore this pushed him hard to identify individual
leadership methods. As time went by, he eventually became a Christian newspaper editor and a
southern Baptist theological seminary president at a young age of thirty-three years.
Summary
The conviction to lead by Albert Mohler entails various principles on leadership that or
hand in hand with Christian beliefs. The major goal of the Mohlers writings is to restructure
Christian leadership and ensure that an individual is not separable from their beliefs passionately.
In addition, the major purpose or goal is to encourage individuals who are highly concerned with
the belief and great commitment in leadership. The other goal of the author is to convert the
leaders into believers as well as believers into leaders. The author makes use of some leadership
examples in his individual life as well as in history to highlight some of the features that a Christian

leader ought to possess and how to adhere to the principles (Mohler, 2012). One of the major
themes of convictions is highlighted on every principle and therefore through his explanation
convictions and Cristian beliefs ought not and cannot be detached from the principles of leadership.
The over 220 pages of a book consist of various chapters and consist of the different topics that
run from credibility and character to media and managers to worldviews and writers. The book is
probably was written by Christian leaders on how they can become good leaders and that the same
time marinating their beliefs. I believe that the author also aimed to focus on a leader who ought
to convert into Christian to undertake their leadership role acceptably. However, for the non-
Christians, there are high chances that there some Ares that they ought to disagree with Mohler on
leadership aspects, although his way of presenting ideas and challenge leaves everyone thinking.
Therefore, the book aims at transforming minds in various platforms such as churches, schools,
culture, and communities.
Critical Interaction
In the beginning, Mohler starts by indicating his major goal as changing how individuals
vie leadership. Therefore, his view on leadership is all about the voice but rather the overall change
in the manner in which leadership is practiced and understood. First, he states there is the need to
change how the leaders lead as leadership is not all about the administration of vision and skills.
Leaders ought to change the minds and hearts of the people to whom they lead. One of the
theological issues, as highlighted by the author, is that church despite following their beliefs there
is the need for leaders in Christianity. Christian institutions and congregations highly require great
leaders who ought to be faithful Christians and hose leadership ought to be highly motivated by
Christianity commitment. However, the theological issue here in Christianity is that fact there is a
lack of interest in leadership, and leadership seminars and book shortages.

In addition, the other theological issue is Christian leadership redefining in that it becomes
undividable from the greatly held beliefs as well as encourages individuals who are committed and
ready for leadership. Mohler felt the need to see a generation that is a leader undertake leadership
roles and ready to push the world to the next level. Mohler was a leader at a young age and not
through the training yet he also undertook a religious role, which he highly advocated and
supported. However, the challenge here seems to be different assigned religion and leadership. In
addition, through Mohler making use of various examples in his writing such as Churchill, it was
meant to show that undertaking a lairdship role is possible but the theological issue is that people
have a different way of seeing things and believing (Mohler, 2012).
Mohler came from a place where he taught and trained himself on leadership aspects and
therefore his major goal is to change how leadership is undertaken. He aims not to provide great
leadership practices and how they should be undertaken but to change the nature and the mind of
a leader (Mohler, 2012). He believes that once a leader changes his or her mind then external
outcomes are easily visible. The changing of a leader nature and mind is done through the 25
principles as highlighted in the book.
Strengths
The author has challenging, insightful, readability, and clear information as a highlight in
the entire book of 244 pages. The book is great and many helpful beginners in leadership and there
is a lot to learn through the 25 principles. In addition, the author makes use of his leadership
experiences as well as life experiences, which is much helpful to other leaders in their leadership
journey.
BOOK REVIEW 5
Weakness
Despite having to read the book I don’t think the author met his main goal is passing
information and changing how the aspect of leadership is practiced and understood. Some of the
aspect highlighted in the books has also been present in other books and there not much different
on changing the leadership in the world. Some of the chapters tend to overlap, and there seems to
be no paradigm while moving from one idea to the next and some of the topics do not associate
with most leaders.
Conclusion
The major goal of the author is to change how individuals view leadership and also
advocate for Christians to be leaders and leaders to become Christians too. a leader or a person
aspiring to become a leader through reading the book there are high chances of them being
encouraged and motivated as the author makes use of life experiences and leadership experiences
which as significantly important to an upcoming leader. However, when it comes to changing the
mindset of Christians might be difficult as a result of their viewing as to different worlds and
probably as a result of lack of interest. However, generally, I believed the book played an important
role in changing the way people view leadership. The book makes thinking of how it is possible
to achieve anything and also become a great leader. Mohler, become a good leader without being
necessarily being trained and therefore achieving anything possible. Finally of the issue keep me
wondering about the author how is it possible to make leaders Christians yet they have their
personal believes.
