Criminal justice system department leadership has a huge responsibility within society. There are
many people in this organization who have the same goal in mind, working to keep both society and the
citizens safe. We are responsible for ensuring that justice is served to guilty and the innocent are
released. The administration of criminal justice consists of three primary entities: law enforcement,
courts and corrections. Law enforcement is a group of individuals and organizations responsible for
enforcing laws. Specifically, this agency is designed to work directly with communities to keep the public
safe. Law enforcement consists mainly of officers, prosecutors, and detectives.
The first detectives to be involved in a criminal case are usually police detectives. Police
detectives may be general investigators in charge of investigating many different types of crimes,
homicide detectives in charge of murder investigations, drug investigators or financial crimes
investigators. A prosecutor, a person, especially a public official, who institutes legal proceedings against
someone.Authorities enforcing the law face many challenges. It is hoped that they will manage their
families, preserve dignity, protect citizens and ensure the protection of society.
Law enforcement has the responsibility of upholding law and order. That needs outstanding
leadership. The influence of leadership on organizations is critical for its long-term capacity to function
effectively and meet anticipated evolving environmental requirements (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas 2012).
For example; a servant leader is a leader who focuses on the needs of your team before your own. This
allows for “higher engagement, more trust and stronger relationships with team members” and can
potentially break down some barriers created by leadership hierarchy. Law enforcement needs to create
a shared vision, and then empower and encourage community movement toward that. We are creating
organizational structures, and continuously solving problems.
If asked to articulate my opinion on the topic of administration justice organizations is a big
question, because it challenges me to really describe what I like, hate, and is passionate about when it
comes to this topic. My view of the world consists of two opposing viewpoints, on the one side it is a
positive view of the world we live in today and on the other it is a pessimistic world view. When there is
someone like me on the positive side of the spectrum who, haves the aspirations of wanting to be a
detective or criminal investigator. Someone who has seen the media's most recent horrific instances of
police brutality, racially motivated assaults, and African American people's unjust murders. These things
have always been around it’s just now being publicized because of social media and everything is being
recorded and made known to the world. I have a two sided world view of our systems. There are areas
where laws and rules are necessary but there are also a lot of grey areas that need to be solved and
worked out.
