Correctional Facility Project
The Facility
Name: Newbie Correctional Facility
Location: Fort Myers, Florida
Type of facility: Jail/prison
The correctional facility selected for this project will be Newbie Correctional facility. It will
be located in Fort Myers, Florida. Different types of correctional facilities exist, but this
will be a jail. Jails can hold two types of persons; people who have committed minor
offenses awaiting trial and those that have already been convicted for minor offenses (Copp
& Bales, 2018). As such, jails hold people for short periods and are likely to be smaller,
unlike other criminal justice facilities. Jails are also run mostly by local governments such
as counties or cities.
The Facility Cont.
Security level: Low-security level jail
Size: Medium jail
Popular designed jail
15 cells, each with four beds
The facility will be a medium-sized low-security level jail. Due to the low security, the jail
will only host low-risk persons to prevent any security incidences. It will be a podular-
designed jail where multiple cells will face a central area (Thelen, 2020). The jail will have
15 cells, each with four beds (double bunker). Thus, there will be 60 beds in total. Notably,
the facility will have three floors. The first floor will house the central supervision and
dining and visiting areas. The second floor is where the cells will be located. The third floor
will house different offices and the main control room.
Staffing
The correctional facility will need enough staff to operate effectively.
Around 100 employees will be needed for smooth operations
The employees will include; prison wardens, health officials (doctors, nurses,
psychiatrists), support staff (cooks), religious officials, and operations management
