Introduction
Crime prevention refers to the mechanisms applied towards disrupting any cause of
criminal acts or events. There are various approaches applied towards preventing any crime from
occurring; these approaches include; deterrence, retribution, incarceration, and rehabilitation.
Police are given the responsibility to ensure that they prevent crimes in society. One of the ways
the police can prevent crimes is by treating people equally, thus minimizing the chances of rising
cases of violence among the community members. Hence, better minimizing the criminal
activities has aided in creating peace in society, thus giving room for more economic
developments in the country and the world.
Thesis statements
Crime prevention is a good exercise as it aids in maintaining peace in the society, thus
contributing to boosting the quality of life of the people living in the area. Crime prevention is
supposed to be a collaborative act that will involve the police, community members, government
and non-governmental agencies, ministry of security and other stakeholders in connection with
security which will help minimize the criminal activities in the countries from occurring.
Argument on crime prevention
The main argument on crime prevention is that various strategies need to be adopted.
This is because the crime rate in various countries is increasing, contributing to the loss of life's
properties and even distracting the economic development in the countries. Increase in criminal
activities has been contributed by various factors like loss of job opportunities, increase in usage

of drugs among the youths, increase in the poverty rate among various communities, lack of
income to cater for the necessities, influence from the peers and lack of support from the parents
or the guardians.
The youths are the ones who are mainly affected by the increase in crimes in various
nations; thus, quick and effective measures need to be adopted to ensure that the youths are
drowned in the jails and corporal punishments which will ruin their future (Kennedy et al.,
2021). Therefore crime prevention is crucial to all nations as it will aid in shaping the future of
the youths and the women in society. Prevention of crime will also ensure that the youths are less
engaged in unlawful activities, thus engaging in development programs.
The second argument is that crime prevention will aid in the creation of jobs which will
help in better development of the nations as most initiatives will be introduced. Therefore, this
will engage various youths and women in development activities, which will aid in boosting the
level of income for most households in various nations. Hence this will aid in changing the living
standards of many families. The other argument is that police and security officers should be
given the responsibility of fighting crime to avoid using excessive towards the offenders. The
police should also be offered the necessary training and skills to boost their work.
Points in support of the arguments
The various means that can be applied to reduce crimes or prevent crimes are as follows:
the application of public surveillance cameras. These cameras will assist in monitoring the
movements of the suspected people. It will also help identify any immoral activities or personal
in a place which aids in raising the alarm in arresting the criminals. Public surveillance will also
involve the community members who will help alert the police or other security officers on any

suspected activity related to violence or security issues and even any suspected person, which
will aid in the early prevention of crime occurring in the place. Public surveillance can even
involve installing cameras in all the border entries, government offices, and other public places
where most criminal activities are likely to occur. Thus, this aids in first identifying the
criminals, which is an effective way to prevent crimes.
The use of drug courts will aid in preventing crimes in all countries. Most youths engage
in drugs to relieve stress and out of financial stress. Thus this contributes to them engaging in
various criminal activities to sustain their needs and preferences. Therefore better collaboration
between the drug courts and the governments should be done to ensure that strict measures are
laid which will aid in curbing the intake of drugs among the population, thus contributing to the
reduction in criminal activities in the country. The governments should also lay various strategies
to help the ex-offenders find some secured jobs to help them sustain their needs. Thus this will
be an effective way to prevent these offenders from engaging in various criminal activities for
some financial needs. This is a secondary prevention intervention technique that focuses on
helping the youths avoid getting into contact with criminal groups once they have dropped out of
school—this aids in minimizing the risk of them engaging in criminal activities. Social and
physical problems are the major contributor to various crimes in the country where the youths
are mostly associated. Therefore eradicating these problems will aid in saving out of engaging in
various criminal activities.
The other measure to curb the crime rate is using DNA evidence. This is a critical
criterion that aids in quickly identifying and arresting criminals. The use of DNA evidence has
contributed to the arrest of various criminals worldwide as this aids in proving the actual
involvement of a person in various criminal activities. The DNA evidence has been widely

applied in sex offenders’ cases, where it has aided in proving justice to the affected (Rotolo,
2021). Therefore, using DNA evidence has aided in better handling of the entire criminal crimes,
which is a very effective strategy in fighting crimes in the world. Crime prevention thus will help
in giving freedom and also aiding in fighting the rights of the minority and the women in the
society. Thus this allows a better development in the society as peace has been effectively
installed, giving room for the better undertaking of various activities aimed at promoting
development in the society.
Conclusion
Crime prevention is supposed to be the main activity in the government’s plan where
various resources and strategies are supposed to be applied effectively towards maintaining
peace in the countries. Better collaboration and cooperation amongst various agencies and
stakeholders related to security should be enhanced to ensure that every member in the
community enjoys the rights and the freedom of association and movement as through their
collaboration, the crime rate will be reduced. Reduction in criminal activities also aids in
ensuring that the best have been given to the society as they will have room for development
economically and socially.
The leaders in the society should involve the community members in the security issues
as these will help fight the criminal activities in the society. This is because the community
members will act as an alert tool to the security officers by revealing to them any suspicious
activities or persons they encounter amongst themselves. Thus this will aid in overcoming the
security threats brought about by the social and physical issues in the society. Better coordination

with the community members will aid in fighting the criminal activities effectively and quickly,
thus ensuring the community is living in peace.
